ive been told by several people that although the tanks are more expensive, compressed air tanks are better for your markers than CO2. i agree with them, and am thinking of buying one, but i was wondering if i need n adapter for my gun in order for me to use HP, or if i can just put it on and go play.

P.S does anyone know a place that sells cheap compressed air tanks in CO?

You don't need an adapter. Just screw it in and play!

Yep, compressed air is cleaner, mor consistent and best of all a lot easier on o-rings because of its temperatures. I'd recommend a 68ci 4500psi for your first buy. It's a pretty universal size. If you are currently running c02 you will not need an adapter. However some tanks have low output. Which you will not want. If buying used be sure to clarify. You may see terms in the descriptions like slp, ulp, lp . Those all mean low pressure, you'll want one with about 800psi output which is basically standard on *most tanks.

ths is worth mentioning again, if your using something like a tippman or spyder or other mechanical gun, youll definately want one that says high pressure output, which is about 800psi....youll need it since those guns are designed to work with the higher pressures of co2. and yes, a hp will work on almost any gun out there if you upgrade later on. there are very few guns that actually need LP.

I use a crossfire 68/45 HP works for me. Or you can go with a ninja 68/45 a little more expensive. I prefer stubby tanks too

Air is also more consistent than co2 its already air, no liquid to gas waiting to happen. No hot shots or shoot down due to liquid co2 getting into the gun. If you looking for low end or just rec ball a metal tank 48ci or 72ci @ 3000psi will be plenty for you. Both can be had under $50. If your looking higher end look to the carbon wrapped tanks 45ci or 68ci @ 4500pis but be ready to spend $80+ for a decent one.

It's pretty much been repeated in here, but yes, HPA is always better than CO2 for the sole reason that it's a non-volatile gas, instead of a liquid.

No adapter needed, unless you're using a Tippmann 98 custom, where you'll actually need an HPA kit. Otherwise, just gas it up and go.

Also, check the BST thread for cheap tanks. You can generally find good deals in the gearbag sales, for anywhere between $88-$110 for "standard" sizes, or around $30 for the 48ci/3000psi tanks.

I would definitely recommend a 48/3000 tank to start out with, just to see if you like it. If you don't notice any major difference, I'd think about getting a decent entry-level priced (this could be a very old high-end marker, or a newer mid-range) electro pneumatic marker and upgrade to a 68/4500.
