Haters gonna hate. The original Black Ops was the only CoD I enjoyed after CoD4 and it seems they are actually taking out all the bs from MW3 (support, deathstreaks), so I will be getting it. Will it be fresh and innovative and completely change the landscape of the shooter genre? Probably not, but I don't expect it to either and will nonetheless enjoy it for what it is.

Also, I give 0 ****s about what it does for the "Shooter Franchise". It's a business, and a damn good one. It keeps people buying the same **** over and over again. I applaud them for it. You're not the executive getting the money, you're the regular person giving up your money and time. Why would you like that they get away with putting out a ****ty game consistently for you to waste your time and money on? And then, knowing that, willingly buy into it?

Also, anyone who thinks they're being "competitive" while playing a console shooter that has mandatory auto aim or aim assist is a complete joke. And no, other game's communities would not get ruined because of how easy COD is to play. A lot (Not all, but a significant portion) of people who play COD aren't fans of or good at games in general, they're fans of winning. And if they tried to play an actually competitive game, they probably wouldn't win or do good. Causing them to give up and run back to COD because they don't care about getting good at a game to win or developing skill, they want to be good at it the second they turn it on. And COD allows them to do that every time. And that's what "casual" gamers love. Tons of "casual" gamers play COD (Which explains it's sales figures). It has to do with being informed though too, many people see all their friends buy a game or hear that it sold millions and assume that because of that, it's one of the best games. A lot of people also just don't have the time to read or know about it, which, I think, is a fair excuse. But, if you know why COD is garbage and continue to play it, then you're hopeless.

Komodo's right, COD gets bought every year by tons of people because it's so easy to get a high score that everyone thinks they're a badass at it. So, they figure, why not, when the new one comes around every year. Every year, everyone gets to steamroll everyone else. Everybody wins, no one really loses at these games.

It's the publisher Activision that stifles creativity, not the developer. You can applaud one while hating the other. I think Treyarch is doing as much as they can within the constraints they are given. There are certain sacred cows that Activision will not allow them to touch.

I guess COD has truly melted your brain if you can't even manage to read..

But, the tl;dr apparently is that you'll never realize why the game you're defending is not a quality game. Also, no butthurt on my end. I stopped taking these games seriously years ago; when they stopped being quality video games. But I must be butthurt, right? Beause COD couldn't possibly have become a generic, mediocre, predictable and unchallenging video game franchise.

And I know what role Activision plays. I believe he implied that he's applauding Activision.

While competitive COD might be slightly more challenging than pub, it's still, by far, the easiest FPS to dominate at. Call of Duty is like tee ball.
