Becoming Sponsored
Hey, I was just curious to see if anyone else out here on the nation has had any run ins with being sponsored, whether for racing, audio, show, or other kinds of competitions. Maybe everyone can share stories (successful or not) and trade some secrets and ways of making it happen. Any one else?

If you have to ask then I'm willing to bet you suck at whatever you're trying to do.

Just to humor an answer. "Being given free stuff or discounted items (specifically for vehicles in this case) in exchange for promotions and related services."

first rule, they approach you, you don't approach them.
no one likes someone coming around for a handout that hasn't done anything.

I was sponsored by local small businesses for dirt track racing. We had a relationship with the businesses, and honestly spent far more money with them than we ever received. I guess anything helps, but you don't go into racing to make money.
How do you earn a small fortune racing?
Start with a large one.

^^^I hear that. A local mobile electronics shop that sponsors me works the same way. I may still have to spend money, but they hook me up with tons of stuff at whole sale and discounts. As you said anything helps!
Although there are ways to get high end items for no cost, or very little to you at all.

my mom and dad sponsored me for 17 years. All i had to do was sport their last name and they covered housing, food, entertainment, medical needs, etc. Was a sweet deal.

I have a few actually. The thread was made to find out who else does and help other people in possibly getting into this sort of thing.
I started out through Carsponsors.com and they helped hook me up with my first ones, and I branched out from there to find some of my own. And recently SponsorAmerica.com brought me on with the help of the first aforementioned sponsor company.
