Admittedly, we encountered a few bumps and delays along the way... but discussions have already begun on how to raise the bar for the next event. We had 19 players sign up the "Day of"... with another 15 - 20 speedball players present who wished to wait for open play so they could stay together as their team. Hopefully, they'll feel comfortable to join in at future events.
I really feel this type of event will draw in the newer players and hopefully get them hooked on this style of play. There will be much more promotion for the next MSL event.
Thanks again for participating!
A lot of awesome points touched upon by Evins, We (Evins and myself) have been debating on going to a "limited paint" event type to make it a little more fair to everyone that would like to try playing up front for the first time, but doesn't want to shoot a case of paint during one of these streetball events. In the future, ideally I would like to be able to run the games for the MSL no more than an hour and a half, and resume regular pickup games afterwards. We do plan on capping the teams at 5 players per team. I know most weren't fond of 6-man, but it was a necessary concession to run the event last time. So i'm willing to open up to input on how much paint each player can carry per point. Some of the most common options talked about so far are
2 pods plus hopper
1 pod plus hopper
No pods, just hopper
I have to admit I am fond of 1 pod plus a hopper, but I will do whatever everyone would like to ensure everyone keeps playing this series.
