So like the tittle says I need to know what to buy, the stuff is not for me its for my brother. So I have been playing for 9 years now and I want to get my little brother to start playing paintball with me ( 13 years old). I just dont no what to get him I know Ill get him a good mask tank hopper pants etc. But I dont know should I spend the money on a mini, proto slg, etha, etek or, an ego. I want to keep it under about $550 with shipping thats just the gun total about $750-850. I think the best bet is to get a used ego because its a good gun he could keep using it over time when he progresses in to the sport. But I still dont know what to do help! Now keep in mind to be calling me a rich F*** this is not going to happen until about november so I dont want a bunch of links to guns for sale and all that jazz.

If that is your price rang pick up an '08 Ego at $400 tops, out of the list you put up there, definitely your best bet.

Either that or an Etek 3 around $300

Yeah I think thats what Im going to do I just want more feedback about all this because I mean I dont want to drop all this and then for him to say he does not want to play. He has said he wants to play with me but I dont know if he is just saying that or what.

an ego or a vice would be best

If its his first time though, take him with a rental gun and see how he likes it first, he may not like it at all

Are you sure this really isn't one of those "I have this friend who..." things where you are really talking about yourself? Because I find it a bit hard to believe that after 9 years of playing you would have such little knowledge.

But anyhow, the best advice as given so far......take him out and let him use a rental for a while. No reason to jump him into gear if he hasn't even really tasted the sport yet. Let him get out there and discover what he likes first. Might prefer woodsball to speedball. Might like a tactical marker. Who knows. Or if he even likes paintball that much at all. If you've been playing for 9 years you should know this.
