Computer help please!

My computer has been extremely slow lately.
My computer's specs:
HP Pavillion model p6204y
Pentium Dual Core E5400 @ 2.7 GHz
6 GB Memory
GeForce 8400 GS

Lately games/ video streaming have been lacking framerate and when I start my computer about 30% of my memory is being used.

Is there any way I can back up the programs and files I want to keep and just "wipe" my computer clean?

Update graphics drivers? Download new drivers, uninstall the old ones, reinstall the new drivers. 30% of the memory is still only 30%, that's not that big of a deal. Under task manager(ctrl+alt+delete), what is running in the processes tab? Also I'm taking the assumption that these aren't new games and they did at one point have good FPS?

You can also type in msconfig in the search bar in the windows start logo, and change what programs start up when Windows boots up.
