Having badly broken my ankle and have also sprained my ankles numerous times, I recommend cleats with a thin sole. I wear Exalts. The thinner the sole of the shoes, the less chance for rolling your ankle since it is lower to the ground. As for added ankle support, the best way is get the needed ankle support is from a Figure-8, lace up brace.
My orthopedist said that ankle brace is the best ankle support an athlete can use for optimal mobility and support. I use it every time I play and barely notice I have it on.
