Posed the same question in the Tourney side but wanted to get another perspective. I rolled my ankle playing football a few years back and it still gives me trouble. I don't want to have to wrap my ankle for every game and since boots suit me for that purpose playing Woodsball, I'd like something to bridge the gap. Leaning towards resoling my boots but still want semi aggressive.

I use ADIDAS high top line mens boots. Good support and light. Got them on sale for 20.00$. Going on my second season with them. I also wear them when I play/coach Lacrosse. Feyd.........

Those look like what I need. Reading reviews on them saying they tend to run narrow. Had that problem?

I actually had a pair of these while I was in the military and they were everything and more. They are a shoe in boot form that allows you to be on your feet for hours, their light, durable, and most of all they breathe so well. Something that you may enjoy about them is the side grips on the rubber. I thought it was just for design, but its actually there to prevent you from rolling your foot.

I know its Oakley and people see them as fancy, but their boots are designed for intense combat and hold up for years.

Having badly broken my ankle and have also sprained my ankles numerous times, I recommend cleats with a thin sole. I wear Exalts. The thinner the sole of the shoes, the less chance for rolling your ankle since it is lower to the ground. As for added ankle support, the best way is get the needed ankle support is from a Figure-8, lace up brace.



My orthopedist said that ankle brace is the best ankle support an athlete can use for optimal mobility and support. I use it every time I play and barely notice I have it on.

Switch, I'll look at the Oakleys as well. If the way the glasses and backpacks hold up is any indication of how the boots will, I'm already sold.

All the lacrosse cleats I've looks at have hugs cleats. I want something more like a tactical boot has. Think the older JT tourney cleats.

I use these (same brand different model) on both ankles with regular Nike cleats and I have not had an issue in 3 years. I am thinking of picking these up as mine have seen better days. http://www.mcdavidusa.com/Product/18...%A2_Brace.aspx

I destroyed my ankle 5 years ago. After years of wearing a brace when I played, I stopped. Brace was uncomfortable, bulky, blah blah blah. After I rolled the ankle again, I won't play without the brace, even if its purely psychological. Despite what shoe/cleat/boot you wear, I would at least consider the brace as well.
