I bought a 2012 Spyder Victor for my brother in-law, he's 10 and it'll be his first gun. I am familiar with spyders but I have not owned one since the spyder shutter I got in 2004. What kinda upgrades are available for spyder's nowdays, and is there anyway to put a vertical foregrip or regular on the 2012 Victor?

standard upgrades i recommend are compressed air tank, barrel, electric hopper that feeds 15+bps. He can technically use the victor as is. just use some paintball gloves to grab on to the steel braided line or hold hand higher so he gets more of the va attachement then the steel line. that's pretty much that should be upgraded to have more fun and less problems with that particular marker. It is after all the entry marker of Kingman's new line. It is however a solid mechanical marker.

Basically the same upgrades that were available to the shutter are available to now.
I recommend just a barrel as far as upgrading the gun. I would go with J&J ceramic 14" or a CP one piece 14", cheap and offer great accuracy.

You can gas thru fore grip or expansion chamber if your running CO2, I wouldn't bother with a regulator since it wouldnt benefit the gun that much. I noticed that they changed the design back to how it was wayyyy long ago so im not sure how you would it if you installed one.

A decent hopper like a 18 volt fasta or HALO TOO since he can set it on a faster gun if he chooses to upgrade at some point.

I never liked any spyder but the basic mechanical ones. My favorite was a Bone Daddy BL (spyder clone).

I have always had problem with my eframes on the other Spyders.
