Quick questions, thanks in advance

Can anyone give me a basic runthrough on how these big game/scenerio events work?
Ive basically only played airball. I looked through a few threads and didnt get the full picture, if theres something I missed pleasepost the link

Basically I want to know how the actual matches/games work, Is it a few big games per day? Are they just elimination or goal oriented?
Also what happens if/when you are eliminated do you have to go back to a starting point or are you out completely?
Are there "assigned" staging areas or is it basically find a spot and its yours? In that case what do you do with your extra gear and whatnot
Finally are these fields going to be big to the point I have to carry 6+ pods with me and more than one tank? or is there a way for me to easily go back to my paint and air station?

Thanks!

That is a great question. Big Games and Scenarios are very different from air-ball games. I have just gotten into the sport, but I have a played a couple big games and scenarios, and here is my experience. The games usually include the entire park, as opposed to a small section, and usually have 50-10,000 players, all playing at once. The scenarios I have played all were objective based games. That means, red team starts at north end, blue team at south end, horn sounds, and all teams run to specific places on the field in an attempt to obtain that objective. Sometimes it's reading a phrase off a hidden card, collecting a piece of equipment, capturing a building and even just observing the enemy and calling in their position. Most the games I have played consist of several rounds, each round lasting 1-3 hours with a short break in between. Regardless of the rounds, the points collect all day, and at the end there is a winner. Depending on the game, there are specific spawn points and sometimes even medics. Some games require you to wait at the reinsertion point for a specific amount of time, number of players, etc. A lot of this depends on the type of scenario, as well as the size of the field. In terms of staging areas. Most times it just like a regular day at the park, you find a table/locker, get your gear setup, then lock up what you don't need at that moment (i.e. extra tank, rounds, gear, or water). This is usually also were the air fill stations and concession areas will be. During the rounds you will, ideally, be on the field for the entire round, but, once again depending on size of field, you can walk off and go back to your gear whenever you like. Your question on how much paint and air to carry is a great one, unfortunately there is no set answer. That will depend completely on the type of game, size of field, and what setup you are most comfortable with. There are really only a couple pieces of equipment you absolutely need. Most important is a good mask (probably already knew that), a working gun, barrel swabs, a walkie talkie (game changer and really helps your team) and probably most important during summer, a camel pack. I personally play a lot of mag-fed, so my setup is: Tac-Vest with 3-mags, 2-100 round pods, a 48ci 3,000 psi back tank, remote line with slide-check, and a 2-Liter (usually frozen to start day) camel pack. Sometimes I put 2 more 100 round pods on my back, but tends to get heavy. The last couple big games/scenarios I played, it was only a 10-minute walk back to the staging area, so I chose to run lean and mean and just go back when I needed to resupply. Hope this helps. I defiantly recommend playing in some scenario games. It is very different than speed-ball and adds a level of tactics, team work, and sneaking that isn't as available in speed-ball due to the time constraints and field size/limitations.

Each scenario and/or producer run their events differently. However, for Decay of Nations, typically it is mainly ground warfare with missions given to the commanders at certain intervals. Those commanders will ask for volunteers to complete the mission. Missions such as, take and hold, escort VIP, convoy, destroy the CP and so on.

Also what happens if/when you are eliminated do you have to go back to a starting point or are you out completely?

For Decay of Nations (and the majority of scenarios out there) there are designated re-spawn points in which when you are eliminated, you return to your sides re-spawn point and get back into the game. Decay of Nations also have what are called "Death Cards" I do not know if this idea is unique to Decay but this is how it works: You have been eliminated by a paintball shot, you look for nearest ref, give him/her your "Death Card" and that ref will give you quick instructions on how to get back into the game.

Are there "assigned" staging areas or is it basically find a spot and its yours?

Yes, each side will have an off field staging area and an on field CP where you check in with your sides commanders.

In that case what do you do with your extra gear and whatnot

Properly secure them away from prying eyes in your vehicle or a lock box. Don't give them a reason to break into whatever it is you brought to the camping area.

Finally are these fields going to be big to the point I have to carry 6+ pods with me and more than one tank?

To be honest, that is a question you have to find out yourself. You may find that the gear that you normally use is fine. But if you want to carry more paint, just as WoldStrikePB has said, you may have to invest in a vest to carry more paint and possibly a bigger tank to shoot it all. You just have to start playing in scenarios and see on what kind of gear would fit your playing style in a scenario as opposed to airball

or is there a way for me to easily go back to my paint and air station?

yup, walk back to your secured gear

Thanks!
Hope my answers help, based on my experience at the past few years of Decay.

Well said gadget... also note that the walk to the parking lot (at least when I went out there was down the road, thus plan on taking breaks accordingly..... and what gadget has said.....

Actually, for scenarios, they have enlisted the use of a surplus military truck to transport players to and from the parking/camping areas.

You can still walk it if you feel so inclined lol

Something else that wasn't mentioned, scenario games tend to use a lot of props. Missile launchers, tanks, planes, and in decay's case mechs to represent armored vehicles. There are also many propane for mission purposes like dummies for rescue missions or bond packs that need to be taken somewhere. I think it safe to assume you have never run into a battle tank while playing speedball.
