^^From what I was told, I heard oil like substance in paintball bags are actually considered ball sweat, which is normal from being in storage for a while. It is why paint should always be stored in cool room temperatures to help keep them nice and brittle. Otherwise, them sweaty balls (lmao) are gonna bounce off someone's dome and they won't be too happy.

Sure, you could put them in the fridge or freezer or whatever to make them more brittle. Without a cooler, I doubt they would retain temperature very well. You could put your balls in a cooler, but you would have to keep the moisture from damaging your them.

Accuracy through volume. The more you shoot at your opponent's dome, the more likely one is to break. I buy the cheapest paint and shoot too much of it.

^lol, sweaty balls.

The oily substance in bags of paint are actually glycerin. It is put in bags of paint in order to prevent paintballs from sticking to each other. I'm trying my best to make this sound as civilized as possible, but when you're talking about sticky balls, it is quite a challenge not to sound all pervy.

Just saying, $50 for paint, $30 for entrance fees, Bridge toll, gas, lunch = more than $80 to play.

Not everyone gets the buddy discount from the local shops.

Now they're STICKY?

But to contribute: Paint in CA is typically super cheap compared to most places on EARTH, so it's not too big a deal, but I do prefer APX/RAP4 (especially rap4)/Karnage over most.

I've had **** luck with valken and a lot of DXS paint.

This thread has given me a good update on cheap to mid-range to use, but what high end brand paint would people prefer to shoot if money was not an issue? Is it still evil or marbs/all star or is there some new high end stuff?

Ultra Evil is still the best paint I have ever shot. I would say that GI imperial /5 Star is 2nd. The blue ultra evil at events is apple scented as well!

unless you can strike a deal with your local field i'd go to cutting edge and get 2+ cases a time to get the $5 off a case deal. form 13 will get the job done for rec days. personally i'd pay the extra $5 more and grab the premiums. huge difference in quality and will make for a funner day on the field seeing more balls flying straight and breaking more frequently. personally though i'm an allstar kind of guy.

oh and depending on how often you play a month i know SCP has those membership deals. grab a membership and you can get 20% off paint. that's a HUGE discount.

overall, support your local paintball shops and fields. avoid big retailers.

this is the only field that i know of that charges you an extra $10 bucks to bring in out side paint this sucks.. just because they want to make more money for the fields. how am i post to help support my local paintball shop and when i have to buy over priced paint from the park. that sucks for Cutting Edge Paintball off of race street.and i like that shop too.

SCP charges $5 instead of $10 if you buy from cutting edge with a receipt.

I bought a box of Nightmare from Wal-Mart last week. All the balls were oval shaped and measured .004 difference from narrow to wide side. I returned them and bought a box of Stingers for $30. Sports Chalet and Wal-Mart do carry Marblizer. I've only seen RPS Premium at the Sports Chalet in San Jose. The price was a decent $50. The only thing, I'm not sure how long the paint at S.C. has been sitting on their shelves because all the boxes looked to be damaged on the outside. All the boxes found at my local Wal-Mart looked fresh. Although, I did have breaks in every bag of Nightmare and 2 out of the 4 bags of Stingers. If the Stingers work out, they will be my paint of choice.
