Homemade Freak Kit Insert Case?

So here's the deal: gear bag space is at a premium, I recently got a new one and I really like it, but the freak kit takes up a LOT of room. Any thoughts on how to get rid of the clunky case?

I saw a few ideas, one says to use a 3-cigar holder, and another says to use a case-logic case (http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-Com...400098-6970331)

So far, the case logic one looks to be the best, but I'm still looking at making it myself and spending less money.

Any thoughts? I'm trying to explore my options, although the case-logic case seems like the easiest and least expensive.

Pretty good idea. Not sure if you could fit a full set in there, but rarely do you need all of the inserts anyway, esp. since paint is so small now.

This is more of a ghetto option, but you can put them in pods. The pods are hard and will protect them from bending...

and to think i was going to pay 25$ for that case...

Cardboard box + block of foam + cut out pieces sized to fit insert = best bet

OP, below are pics of a custom freak case I make. I started making these because I had the same problem you're having now, the stock case is way too big. My case is the smallest out there. They can be customized to accommodate any size freak kit you want (pictured is a 6 sleeve) and done in a large variety of colors. They hold the inserts snugly in a sleeve and the whole case rolls up into a small unit. The slots can even be made to fit the barrel front and back If you'd like.

PM me for details.

I'd shy away from using something like the above case unless you're sticking it into something hard like a pod. I've dented aluminum inserts pretty easily and would never trust them rolling around in a gearbag.. That's my biggest beef with the super freak kit. I think a soft sided case for an aluminum insert is crazy.

I used to have this problem as well but I just picked up a stainless freak insert kit from my local store and this new case is considerably smaller than the old case, so I don't feel the need to make anything anymore.

You can't pile tanks and guns on it, but I've been using it with little caution for over a year now and no issues. Wrap it in your jersey, forearm pads, ect for a little extra protection. The difference in storage space is worth it for me.

Side note, a 5 insert roll up will fit in a pod.

You must have seen mine and Blackrain's post over on G10G.com. I only use 3 inserts, but have 4. I keep 3 in the cigar holder and store one in the barrel. Blackrain owns more inserts then I do so he uses the CD case. Either is fine, but I only carry the inserts I have used the most, so carrying the others is a waste of space imho.

The pod idea is cool, but I wouldn't carry it in a butt pack when there's always that chance of sliding and landing on that pod and breaking it.

I have seen someone use a smokeless cigarette holder. I think the name of that product is "Ego". Ironic
