So apparel rules...
So, since I may, hopefully, end up playing in this league, I decided to take a gander through the NCPA rulebook to see what i did (and more importantly, DIDN'T) know. Mostly, i got a wee bit confused about the apparel section.
From what I could gather, you are allowed to wear high socks, knee pads, a form of slider short, a tshirt, and elbow/forearm pads under a jersey, as long as the jersey itself is not padded. With the way they consider padding, does that then mean with the DYE C12 pants i have i can't wear knee pads as the pants themselves are thicker than the "100% cotton" rule in that area?
They really worded the section kinda funky, just trying to figure it out

I cant speak for certain but i wear the jt team pants with knee pads and everybody i know does the same. too tired right now to find the pants section specifically but the league is much more concerned with the jersey padding itself as you can find in reahl's thread about the new jersey padding rule.

Hurmm.... Well it seems by bouncing around a few different posts that I can wear them. That is a really funky way to word the book lol.
Like i understand the need to go into depth, but at the same time, they really should just have a summary saying "HEY, don't go wrapping yourself in bubblewrap under your jersey, but arm and knee pads are fine."

if you notice they also say you can only wear one pair of shoes at a time. last night i tried to see how it was possible to break that rule. didn't get too far.

Lol yeah i saw that and chuckled a bit. They seemed to have gone a little overboard on the depth of their rule making.

Chances are that if a rule is put in the book, it's there because somebody abused its absence prior to the change.

It was probably somebody that wrapped their shoes with padding of some sort.

lots of football players at my high school would wear socks, put the cleats on and then put knee socks over the cleats followed by a layer of tape. to prevent any snagging of laces or any chance a cleat would fall off... it was lame. but i understood their reasoning.

They wore knee socks.... OVER their football cleats? That seems ungodly uncomfortable and would cause a great loss of traction by the sounds of it. Wouldn't it be easier to use those wide rubber-bandy thingys to hold the laces down and out of view? I know we used those in soccer.
Plus, they must've been some pretty damn stretchy knee socks

Yea. It was ugly. They had cut small holes in the bottom for the spikes to come through.
I well track spikes work good enough for me. And no matter what the rules say, I will have my slider shorts, knee pads, and dye pants with all their padded glory. And sometimes, it's super hot, basketball shorts between the sliders and my pants. So I can take my dye pants off between points and not feel awkward.

I played in the NCPA for 4 years and can honestly say the majority of the refs don't really know the NCPA rule book. The only thing they really were concerned about were "number of layers" during the colder months. No one is going to measure weather or not your pants are thicker than 100% cotton. That is just absurd.
