I don't personally play .50 cal but a few reasons that I have thought of is because the paint is cheaper, and you can fit more paint in your hopper and pods at once.

But yeah it's pretty awesome to hold a stream on the xball field for a solid 20 seconds without podding up. Feels like a super like piniko with long nose lol

But you still have to shoot it at 300fps... gravity will affect inertia faster and a smaller ball will be harder to break (assuming the shell is of the same thickness). If 50cal were ever to succeed it would be if the fps limit was raised.

fps limit wouldn't be raised because it could still cause injury upclose. .50 cal is pretty cool to have at living legends the cpx proshop stocks .50cal paint that theyll let you use. If i had G.I.50 i would use it at living legends

I wish manufacturers would start giving it a thinner shell to so theyll acctually break.

If you are that beat up on cash you need to find cheaper paint, go take a look into airsoft. They sell 10000 bbs for like 20 bucks.
Since cost seems to be the only reason people are playing it.

reasons to play 50 call ive seen are cuase it gives you more paint for less, it has less range by a bit but range doesent amtter that much when your on the xball field since the feilds arent normally big. thats the only reasons i see of playing 50. cal, more paint for less and you can hold lanes longer

The biggest difference with the case of paint is that, instead of 2000 you get 4000, like people have suggested before is keeping suppressive fire for longer time then 68 caliber paint.

I personally don't play .50 cal, don't care for the format, for me it is inferior to .68 cal. I tend to do a lot of shooting at longer ranges, esp at beginning of games, and the ballistics and breakage suck compared to .68.
My 2 youngest daughters on the other hand, who are 10 and 12, love it. They are using GI Nanos, Ninja 48/4500 tanks with Myth regs, and Kingman Rapid loaders. They can carry more paint with less weight and space, for most sets of games they have enough paint on the field with what is in their hopper and one or two tubes. They play aggressively, up close and personal most of the time, so don't have much of an issue with the ballistic disadvantages of the format. My girls are small and petite, and like that their gear is sized just right to fit them.
So while I won't use it, I see it as a good option for those who are younger or smaller, who like to play fast and hard up close and keep the weight of their gear down as much as possible.

That's the main problem with 50cal, the shells are thick enough to shoot from your marker but are prone to bounce. Make the shell wall thinner and they'll break in the marker.

I played a round with pump spring guns, I think some would call toys since they are less than $60. They shoot at 180 psi and use 50 cal that I liked for a closer range and limited clip situation.
I think that kids (7 to 12) should try thig first since it's not high PSI.

Its better for international use. it brings the sport to more countries. Also fields use it to keep costs down and bring a cheaper more enjoyable experience to first timers. say why do people play .50 cal is like asking why kids play pop warner instead of just going into the nfl.
