JT launches new SplatMaster .50 Caliber line of spring guns
These .50 caliber guns have been in testing at some of the major paintball fields across the country and they are now hitting the stores.

If Splatmaster was owned by NSG, how did JT/Kee get the rights to use the Splatmaster name ?

Is there more information on these somewhere? I'm interested to know at what velocity they shoot.
I have to admit, I'm also a little surprised to not see full face paintball masks on the packaging. I'm guessing these shoot at a fairly low velocity, but if that's the case, are the paintballs even breaking on impact?

My 5 year old son would love this. However i would have to let him use one of my full face masks. if he got shot in the mouth it might turn him away from the sport.

The balls feature an Ultra Evil shell and transfer about one joule of energy on impact.
The goggles come with an attachable faceplate that can be snapped on for full face protection during versus play.

I got to shoot the shotgun at CPX last weekend. Max range is around 100'. Effective range is probably in the 60' range. Paul Dagnino told me the impact energy is 1 joule, so it's low impact. The shell of the JT ball is similar to Ultra Evil. They break pretty consistently on hard targets.

We have been playing some games with them for fun. I must admit.. they are a BLAST to play with. Pretty darn accurate to boot. You can also shoot yourself point blank in the hand without leaving a mark. I have done it numerous times just to show people.
Low rate of fire = more fun playing. I think these may be really cool to get people at a younger age to want to play more as they get to the inappropriate age to play based on the insurance.

I literally just finished a conversation about age limits not even a minute ago. This is hands-down the best use of 50 caliber.
How long til someone starts up about the magic "heavy fill" and starts spouting off about how competition 50 is going to makes it's break out?

I'll be getting a couple of these to introduce my younger kids to the sport. The older ones already have their own .68 caliber full-power guns.

Love it. Tryinv to further the sport and get the next generation into it. I remember a okd company that made similar products but they were. 55 and the ammunition was plastic not paint but it was marketed towards young kids to get them into pb.
