Go play.

Seriously. If you like it, do it again, if not, try out another format.

There's nothing serious or epic about doing it, really.

Yeah, most tournaments are in a speedball style (for obvious reasons) and it is a bit more of a workout, but there's nothing lost from any other form of play that can't be regained in speedball.

Best thing I can do here is to agree with ya ^. Go play!
Personally, I gave it more than a couple whirls. Never liked it. I was never good enough at it to seriously consider playing on a team, and frankly it just wasn't my cup of tea. For other people, they're speedballers all the way. Recball doesn't float their boat like me and they have to have the crazy-fast-paced speedball environment as opposed to a longer rec game.
Best thing you can do is show up at an airball field with your marker and jump in. Nothing magical about it!

No. paintball is paintball. just because the bunkers happen to be made of something different from each other and the layout is different doesn't change the object of the game.

Well get a group pf guys with equipment similar to what you have and go out and play it. If you are asking about equipment wise what you need then just ask for ideas also your post could mean anything from what field or even if you should try it

Go out and play. I would suggest getting togerher with like minded people or who already play. Going to a field alone and new will most likely not be as fun as with friends. Gl and have fun.

dont sell all of your gear just to buy a speed ball gun. play and learn what you like before you spend all your money on a new set up

I agree with most of the comments above, if you have already played though and youre looking to get more serious into it then a couple things you might want to consider.

1. Take a good look at your setup, if youre playing with entry level equipment like a mechanical marker, basic 20-30 dollar mask, gravity feed loader, basic pod pack etc...you might want to consider changing those things. Your local paintball shop can let you know what you need to step up your equipment so youre not at a disadvantage.

2. Speed ball is more expensive because of the paint cost, make sure you feel like youre willing to spend the money for a case of paint or even two cases. If youre currently only using half a case for rec play or maybe less then a case like 1500 rounds youre going to go through paint a lot quicker.

3. For now just play with other rec players, if youre feeling bold then try hoping on a line with some guys who may have more experience playing speedball then the average rec ball player. Learn from them and ask questions because asking questions is only going to make you better at it.

4. Make sure you Love it, speedball is a different animal and its not for everyone. Anyone can play it but not everyone loves or likes it.

Go to a field. Watch a few games, notice what players do, and how the pace of the game goes. Jump in a few open group games. Once you start to outplay everyone switch to the advance games.
