More Instant PM!
It'd be neat to have a Facebook sort of way of IMing. Just alone the bottom corner where you can put said members name in instant message each other back. I think it'd keep business on PbN more than going off line to 3rd party programs like AIM, Facebook, MSN, ect.

I could see a problem with this and BST deals, atleast with PM's I have a saved record of my conversation. The same can't be said with other Instant Messaging services. If they could incorporate something like gmail which saves chats and puts it into your inbox, I could see some value.

this is probably the most suggested thing on pbn, but i think it hasnt been implemented because they dont want to turn pbn into a social networking site... not sure why...sns's make tons of money.

believe they had chatrooms for a bit, and no one used them.
Facebook also saves the IM's to the PM's so that you have a record of them. I personally like the idea, at the very least for getting BST deals taken care of quickly.
Hell, I'd settle for ajax that auto-updated the yellow dot and changed the title to (x new msg(s)) - PbNation etc...

They did, and they were indeed unused. But that was before the time of GDT's all over the website.
I also would like that.
See, never notice it since I'm switching between posts too much.

It has nothing to do with that. We don't have IM functionality like facebook, or AIM, or Gtalk because they all do it better. The amount of time it would take for me (the solitary developer) to develop such a system is such that it just doesn't make sense to reinvent the wheel.
Not to mention people "chatting" sort of detracts from the "forum model". People posting in threads is a permanent record of information exchange. Chat rooms or private chat is fleeting.

I see IMing on PbN as a horrid notion anyways.
It may seem convenient, but wait until your deal goes awry. You're completely screwed.

Yes, and while I'm watching porn via stream it completely disrupts everything to take me back to that tab.

Not exactly sure why you're bumping this. A more "chat" like PM system is not in the cards right now.

I don't see why we can't have chat rooms though. I'm sure there is a way to keep chat logs that the mods or admins can see, in case something goes wrong or trouble is caused.
