spyder pilot acs stuck on safety?
hi, sorry if this is a noobie question, but i was trying to fix an old spyder pilot acs that was sitting in my basement and i cant fire it. i turn it on by sliding the switch to the left and then the gripframe lights up in green words saying "safety" with a red battery symbol on top of it. how do i take it off of safety? i tried pulling the trigger and pressing the little button on the backside of the gripframe but nothing happens. im not familiar with sypders at all so i would really apreciate the help. thanks! btw it has a frsh 9v battery in it

to turn it off all you do is push the button on the back.
if the battery is low, the board will keep resetting turning it back on.

ok thanks. i got it to work now. theres a battery symbol that is lit up red. does this mean its running on low battery? im using a duracell 9v. are these ok to use because i dont have any 9.6v batteries. also, how do i change modes? thanks!

You should get a 9.6v battery, you can use 9v batteries but they will drain quickly and cause weird problems. I think I remember changing the mode by just pushing the button once the safety's off, but there might be a little jumper on the board that you need to remove in order to allow changing modes (I don't remember exactly how this works, you can google for the manual easily).

A 9.6v is a must. A fresh regular 9v will typically last less than a few pods. Unless you want to be putting in a new battery every other game (at best) get a Spyder 9.6v and wall charger.
Turning the safety off is a simple as pushing the botton on back of the frame, the same button is used to change modes. There are two pins on the driver side of the board that must be connected with a basic jumper to allow any modes other than semi. I don't remover the common location of the pins though.

Right. That's how it worked. I remember there being a little cap that you could take off to disable other modes, so I'd imagine that the pins would be kinda obvious (probably no need to go soldering things to the underside).
Again, just check the manual, hopefully this info is in there.

I have a spyder pilot acs. A standard 9 volt didn't last long, so I bought a 9.6 volt that I'm getting tomorrow I will let you know how it goes.

ok thanks for all the help guys! one more question though, the little red knob on the back of the gun (i think its the velocity adjuster) is missing so all thats left is a silver piece on the back. can i still adjust the velocity somehow? i didnt see a hole for an allen key.

Take the back cap to a local hardware store and get a long bolt that fits. It'll be metric. Short of replacing the velocity adjuster (usually you have to buy the back cap and knob together) that's your only option.
