Well always a good gun setup for beginners is that mega deal tippmann custom 98 you can get at stores! Those are like $169 or something but its an amazing starter gun.

doggy, plan on spending more than that for a good setup that will last you a long time. The most important thing to get is a good mask. It sucks when you are on the field and you have a crappy mask that fogs up on you every game. Like smartalex suggested, a tippmann would be a great gun to start off with. They are very reliable and will last you a long time. I was able to pick up two tippmann 98C's for $35 each. They were both stock, but worked great as loaner guns and never went down on me. Here is some things I would suggest. You can look in the BST section here for good used gear.
Mask: Vforce profilers, Vforce Grills, Empire Events
Marker: Tippmann 98C.
Tank. 20 oz CO2 if you have a place near you to fill it. You can also look into a 48 cu/ 3000 psi aluminum compressed air tank. Air is much better for your gun than CO2.
Hopper: Go grab a basic hopper from you local store or you can get a basic electric hopper for around $20.
Pod pack: Spend $15 and get a good pod pack harness to hold your extra paint. They are much more comfortable than the packs that have clips and last much longer.
Hopes this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me anytime and I will be happy to help. Welcome to paintball!

Your not going to find a good gun for under 100.unless you buy used.even then yiur going to need about 200 here what I would do.
Ions are old but still good guns .. I would look more for a used "ion Xe" around 120-139.easy to maintain and easy to use its electronic.so that's 130 you will ow have 70.00 I would use that and get a mask (JT ProFlex) then just rent tank and hopper.

I wouldn't get an electro gun for your first gun. They can require more maintenance and are more expinsive. Just get something like a tippmann 98c, they are great, reliable guns that don't require a lot of maintenance. I'd recommend getting a better barrel though. As for a hopper and tank, you'll do just fine with a standard gravity hopper on a 98c. Get hpa (compressed air) if you can afford it. Co2 will do just fine but hpa will be better. And make sure you get a good mask! Personally, I like the JT Proflex. They don't cost that much, have thermal lens (which is a must), and are very comfortable

I know, no BST here, but check out my sig for something I might sell...
Anyways, you're not going to get a super-awesome gun for under $100. That's the cutoff point for markers of good quality, as you can get a 98C for around this price, but that won't come with anything. You can get used guns for around $100, probably something like an Ion, which tend to not be the greatest markers, but with the right maintenance and tuning, get to be awesome. This leaves you without a mask, tank, or hopper, though!
Long story short, $100 isn't going to get you far with a marker other than a blowback. However...
If you are fine with using a blowback, like a Spyder or Viewloader or Piranha, you can get a great setup for $100! Picture this:
Spyder MR-1/Victor II: $50
JT Raptor or Proflex: $28
20oz CO2 tank: $20
Gravity hopper: $2.
So, with these figures, that's your $100 budget. A used $50 Spyder is excellent for a beginner marker, and while you won't be able to roll with advanced players in speedball, you'll be set for a beginner marker. Anyways, good luck!
