Im back and need guidance

So I was dead and gone but now I have washed back up on shore and am looking to get back into the paintball scene. Past couple days I have been spending my down time at work browsing the B/S/T and looking up videos of whats the sport is looking like these days. So I need your guys help in pointing me and filling me in on the best markers these days. Like what is the deal with the Geos 2, 2.1, 2+, 2.75, I see the same thing with the luxe. Im gonna buy something used and is looking to spend no more than 1k on a whole setup. I like the look of the Dye NT's and it looks like the nt10's go fairly cheap on here. Also I always liked timmy's so the G6R's. But really I just want something fairly cheap (500-700) and most of all something reliable. Also rotors seem to be the hot fire loader. Tanks are tanks. So any help guys is greatly appreciated.

Get a Etek or Geo something planet eclipse you won't be disappointed.

Etek 4 - 500-600 (no ups needed)

Air tank - HPA Ninja 150-160

Hopper - Dye Rotor 120 (used)

The thing is there is a geo, geo+, geo2, and a geo2.1 and now a geo 3
The geo 2.75 for say is a geo 2 with geo 2.1 parts
Geo all stock or with ups 400ish
Geo+ all stock or with ups 450-500
Geo 2 all stock or with ups 500-650
Geo 2.1 all stock ir with ups700-850

There is a luxe 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0
The luxe 1.49 is a luxe 1.0 with eaither 1.5 or 2.0 parts

Luxe 1.0 all stock or with ups 600-750
Luxe 1.5 all stock of with ups 750-900
Luxe 2.0 900-1300

I shoot a ego 11 and am getting a nt10 as a back up they are verry nice yes there is kick but not bad and 1500-1700 shots on a 68/45 is pretty good for a spooly i would go with a nice nt10 luxe 1.0 or geo 2 if i were u

Nt10 best efficiency most kick
Geo 2 middle kick middle efficiency
Luxe 1.0 lest kick least efficiency

so the difference between the geo's in relation to the different numbers is just newer model?

also what in the world is a ethra? is that relative to the geo like what the etek is to the ego?

whats the word on reliability with the nt's?

thanks guys

The Nt was first made by Dye in 2010. It was supposed to be a spool that had great efficiency. However, the NT10 was a hit or miss with reliability. The NT11 made improvements on the design, but there was already a bad taste about the NT. Like you noticed, Dye did not make an NT12. General conclusion is to avoid the NT series and stick with the proven DM line if you want to shoot Dye. With that, the DM9 is a fantastic marker for the price. There isn't too much difference between a DM9 to a DM11. The changed the body a little and added a new trigger and asa. For the price, DM9 with a Bwing bolt is a great gun.

Any PE marker is based on reliability. The Geo is no different. They will be the most reliable due to the small number of orings. They are ok on efficiency, but don't expect more than 7 pods from a 68/4500 tank. The first Geo is a good marker. Make sure it has the GR2 kit and GST bolt and it will work well. Not the smoothest or most efficient, but has the LCD screen, good tech support, and reliable.

The G6R is the newest intimidator from Bob Long. Most people agree that it is the best shooting poppet marker on the market. Very smooth, very efficient, easy maintenance, good CS from Blast and local shops. You will have to use a low pressure tank with the G6R and it would be a good idea to have the pressure tester for best performance.

IMO, if you want a spool valve marker, go with a DM9 with a Bwing bolt. If you want a Poppet, the G6R is the way to go.

Look nt 10's are horrible on paint and are pretty kicky for a spool but have good efficiency and best ergemonics period.

Geos are not very smooth for a spool and has ok efficiency for a spool but is remarkably simple for a spool. Older geos are more efficient but mmmmmuuuchhh kickier.

Luxes are smoothest but least efficient. More maintance requiredd.

I'd look into a clone vx. It gets bout 11 pods well broken in on a 68/45 is veery smooth about the same as the
Use and is very reliable that's my choice. Pick one up used for 700 or so. Then get a used or new although I'd go used rotor. And a used tank with a ninja pro adjustable reg. that should run you about 1000.

If you like poppets more go interchange the clone vx with a 2k11 g6r as that's the top poppet.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

I havent played in probably 5 years. The last gun I owned for a long period of time was a old school empire timmy. Although it wasnt the freshest thing on the block I couldnt get away from it. Thats probably why im drawn to the g6r.

I came back on here two years ago just to browse and see how the paintball world is doing. At that time everyone was talking nt's, geo's, and luxes. Its weird to see that the nt ended up being a bust. Also I see alot of people talking up the clone. Weird cause last time I was playing Mac Dev wasnt necessarily near the top of the list for markers. Shows how times have changed.

But I guess it's going to come down to a g6r and a geo. As far as a loader its looking like a rotor. I see they also have v1, v2, and v3? Any one can fill me in on that. And ill complete it with a ninja slp tank.

The G6R is the best poppet; the clone is the best spool... anything else is a compromise. The axe is a great mid-end gun.

I like your style sir. So now what is the verdict on spools vs poppets?

I personally prefer spools. I like the buttery smooth shot and since the clone is so efficient it is really about as close to perfect as a gun can get.

If you enjoyed your Timmy then I'd get the g6r it's much better and more refined.

A lot has changed in 5 years for sure.

V1: no shark fin that helps anti jams, no battery straps which could lead to the battery coming out.

V2: battery straps but no shark fin

V3: shark fin and battery straps.

I'd definitely go v3.

Any other questions?

Eclipse guns have no performance whatsoever they may be reliable but they shoot terrible

The Etek 4 is looking good. The axe is better though. Smooth, efficient, cheap parts (generally FREE if you contact pbsolutions about bad parts, they get it to you in 2-3 days to.) the axe is a great gun.

Basically follow what Shifty said:

As far as spool vs poppet...it comes down to preference. Personally: I would go for a Clone. Find a VXed clone for like $600 on the BST, a V3 Rotor for $100, and a nice in hydro tank for $100. Leaves you $200 for soft goods.

I would avoid Geos unless you are in love with them for some reason.
