haha, im not sure I want to show that! It came out pretty sketchy. I wasnt expecting anything just super amazing from it, I mainly just wanted to see how it would turn out.

Alright guys, OP delivers lol.

Like i said, it looks pretty choppy. I tried it with an end mill first, then a ball mill. The huge gouge towards the front was from losing steps somewhere along the way, and the z axis went down farther than it should. Tool could have started to slip too. Thats when I stopped though, I didnt feel like restarting it. The base of the skull was actually turning out pretty cool - better than I thought at first. Not real happy with it, but it was a test and I learned something, so not all is lost! Hope yall enjoy

Might want to consider doing a roughing pass first to take a majority of the material out, then clean it up with a light pass.

Keep at it, and you'll learn what works well for your machine.

As always, thanks for the advice CS. I did take an initial roughing pass, but only for the stepover, not the depth. I tightened up the stepover for the second file and thats where you can see I lost steps towards the end of the profile. The depth was pretty shallow as it was, so I didnt really think about making more than one cut depth

You can also tell that my file was a little off. You can see where the tool was cutting, and when it was too high to cut the surface, on the areas around the skull/X. I could have set my height a tad bit off, but my guess is that the 3d model i used and the body I was cutting werent 100% identical.

Im pleased with the machine, but its just not made for these types of profiles. A 4th axis is what is really needed for those cuts on the curved surfaces. The Ironman milling came out much much better. Im wanting to try it again in the future and see if I cant get a finished gun out of it.

Alright guys, awesome update time! Got these bad boys done this afternoon.

my polycarb stock ended up being a bit larger than the 1.235" number I was going by, but they fit in there perfectly, so I didnt have to shave it down. Im not complaining, they came out awesome.

There are a couple of tiny scratches and very small grooves from the mfg and handling them, but nothing too serious, so they could be rotated to where its on the bottom of the window. Im really happy with these. Any foggyness you might see is either the camera, or some cutting fluid still on them, they arent cleaned

Clear as a whistle

I may have a job for you.. clear dm12 bolt sleeve. No oring groove needes, but the ends do need to be threaded

Sounds cool. If you have the dimensions, i could take a whack at it. I guess that means I have to learn threading on my lathe lol

you should resize the pics. It's a pain in the *** to keep scrolling over to read what you are saying about the processes, steps, and details.

lol, I guess I should, thanks Tagg.

I had a few sets of AK47 bullet vollies made for me on a CNC lathe. These were popular back in the day and havent been around for a while, so I thought it would be a cool project to work on.

These are, in fact, "volumizers" and not just plugs. Kind of a nit-picky term, but these are bored out, allowing a small increase in air chamber volume. These are mostly cosmetic, but do in fact add a slight amount of volume .

Here are a few pics of the completed sets on and off the gun. I had 12 sets made, and so far 10 have been sold. I kept one set, and the other set is still for sale. This isnt the B/S/T, so ill leave out pricing and all, but if anyone is interested in purchasing the last set, PM me.

I personally thought they came out very nice. Honestly, I wasnt a huge fan of the look at first, but once I saw them on my personal gun, I loved them. It was a nice little project bringing back an old accessory
