Portillos is probably the biggest thing I will miss about not being in Chicago this year. When I worked for Menards and had to fly into Chicago, I had a book of my travel plans and then where the closest Portillos is located after each store.
Last year, Nelke and I were driving back from the field and we took a detour to get Portillos right before we went to Cheddars. Also, there's a White Castle on the way to Portillos from the hotel if you want that too. |

Hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, Italian roast beef, the like.
the combo is an italian sausage topped with italian roast beef in a bun. If you get it dipped, they dip it in the roast beef au jus (so grab extra napkins). Their milk shakes are supposed to be pretty good but I've never been blown away by them. I like their french fries. They fill their sodas behind the counter, so I have never asked for a refil, so be ready for that. |
