Ok, so I am over it! People dont know, and so they hate. Lets clear it up for them.
This is some info found at a reputable website for material information.
"The addition of glass fibre to nylons leads to very significant increases in strength, stiffness, heat distortion temperatures, abrasion resistance and dimensional stability, though properties can be anisotropic - including mould shrinkage, leading to potential distortion. In the case of Polyamide – Nylon 6/6 30% Glass Fibre Reinforced - unlike many polymers - this is achieved without loss of impact strength, though elongation to break is, as usual, reduced very substantially. Glass-reinforced nylon is commonly coloured black." found at http://www.azom.com/article.aspx?ArticleID=2050
This stuff is strong, and can be thrown around without worry it it loosing paint, finish etc. Some real weapons have these same materials in there grips. Fact is, its light, feels good in your hand, and it takes a lot to break this stuff, especially dense parts like the trigger frame. Plus, lose an eye cover? Cheaper to replace. For this day an age, these things matter to anyone who plays tournament paintball..cough ($$$) cough.
Here is a $1500 gun.
Done while running and trying to dive into a snake.
These guns are being used as rentals, and were designed to be used rugid. Planet Eclipse engineers wouldn't put anything in the designing of this gun that wasnt able to be tough.
Next time your friend laughs, just know that YOU know whats up.
