Etha Bolt
My etha could use a new bolt. the stock one has a little too much kick. Opinions?

The stock one is the only one available. Break the marker in (10-15 cases). That should help smooth it out and once it's broken in you can try lowering the dwell.

A lighter bolt could also take advantage of a slightly lighter return spring and could potentially lower operating pressure.
However, as has been mentioned elsewhere that may also affect the markers ability to shoot some paints.

yeah, if that bolt moves any faster monsterballs will be the only paint that will work in it.

Doesn't the axe have a similar action? Air-forward, spring return? How does it get away with lighter spring kits; I know the Boss bolt comes with a 3 spring kit, all being lighter than stock.

If someone could take the characteristics of the stock bolt and spring combo and carry over the same performance curve into a lighter weight bolt and spring combo that would be killer. This would negate the paint issue as theoretically the performance curve of the new matched bolt and spring would mimic the original.

im assuming the etha just has too much un-regulated pressure working the bolt back and fourth.

Un-regulated...... No all the air in the etha is regulated. And the return stroke is done by spring not by air. The important thing to remember is to break it in before trying to fine tune dwell.

HPR which regulates the air from the 450-800 the tank is putting out.

well yeah. when i said un-regulated i kinda meant like the hpr controls the air pressure to the bolt. and guns without lpr's are always a little harder on paint and dont have as smooth a shot. but are generally entry/mid level markers.

No......... just no. Geos don't have a LPR and they have no issue with paint. Etha shoots brittle paint just fine without a LPR.

I don't believe this will work. Jack, Gerry, or Nicky would be able to correct me if I'm wrong, but here's my thoughts on why. The Etha uses a fixed volume of air per shot. Regardless of dwell or pressure ,the dump chamber can only hold X amount of air. The dwell is going to determine how long that dump chamber has to empty. So if you're emptying the chamber at a dwell of 12 then changing the dwell to 14 is only going to give you 2ms of useless cycle time.

with the longer cycle time more air is able to be behind the ball to force it out of the barrel so in turn, you can lower the hpr and have a lower fixed pressure running in the gun. but the bolt will cycle slower.

try a tighter paint to barrel match might help lower your HPR, and in turn you will get less kick

To break it in is going to take 10 - 15 cases? That'll take me at least a year. haha.
