Warning about Pet Shampoos
A friend of mine posted this on FB and I thought it might be worth looking into. Apparently when dog shampoos are kept in high temps they cause terrible reactions and chemical burns on your dogs. Here's the same link she posted. I don't know any of the people or dogs concerned. To be safe, I do think I'll just store my shampoos inside.

Wow. Those are some pretty horrible burns. I never would have imagined something like that could happen from pet shampoo! Luckily my dog can be bathed inside and doesn't need it very often!

My dog had similar burns all across his back, very upsetting. We had to shave his whole back and while the situation was nothing but serious he walked around looking like he had a "monk" cut for about a year. (We left the fur around his sides alone since there was no problem there.) Thanks for the info, I'll spread the word to people I know.

Those burns were terrible. Hope your dog(s) are doing better now. With 4 danes I can understand why you buy in bulk!! Cant imagine how much food they eat in a week (let alone what comes out the other side...jk)!
Go natural and get some Dr. Bronner's soap! Google it.
We have been washing our dogs (3 huskies) with this for years, works great and leaves your dog smelling a lot better than most soaps. Another great plus is you can use the Dr. B's for all purpose cleaning around the house too. All natural, no chemicals whatsoever.

I used to sell dog shampoo and never heard of this. Maybe low end brands, but I'll look into this. Got about 3 groomers in the family plus their friends.

Holy **** that's horrible. I used Petco garbage for a little while on our dog until I realized it was drying his skin terribly and sending his oil glands into over drive. Switched to a home made all natural shampoo recommended by our groomer and the results have been great.

Yeah, an' I said: "I do," but I didn't have a clue,
How I'd miss all the whiskey an' women.
I tried to be true, but it's all I can do,

I've been "in dogs" for more years than I want to admit, and have never heard of that. However, I also stay away from the run of the mill pet quality stuff.
ETA- I just did a fairly quick search for more info. All I found was the post linked in the original post on a couple of other forums, and found absolutely nothing on Snopes. The posts were dated last year (2011). As much as I appreciate the heads up, I do find it kind of odd that only one person had a problem.

probably not a ton of people leaving shampoo out in extremely hot temperatures. it makes sense with the lye. i wouldnt doubt it could happen. im sure someone who knows chemistry could say why/for sure if it would occur.
