take gun apart of leave it built after playing

i used to take the entire gun apart but i find it easier to leave it in the closet on the gun stand with a barrel cover on and the tank still in. is this bad for the gun?

You're perfectly fine as long as it's not aired up. I normally clean them after I play and then reassemble them with barrel and tank as well. Also stored on a stand and never had an issue. I have spoolies, and I store them with the bolt in the forward position

Play, strip down, clean, reassemble, store. Store mechanicals in the hammer forward position.

That's good enough.

Just be sure to clean any paint from the gun after playing, and that's about it. You'll still wanna read the manual for the marker and do maintenance when it says it needs to be done, generally every 10 cases or so.

You're not alone, I just did that in fact...
Always clean your gun after play. As the Army teaches you, "Weapon First." Sure, you're tired and hungry and sweaty, but take care of your gear before you take care of yourself. You'll be happier in the long run.
Yeah, don't leave your gun aired up. Not good for the cupseal and in a spoolie, not good for the regs and 'Noid. If you have an on/off, this solves the problem, but if you don't, have either an empty tank on it or leave the tank off.

Why is it better to store spoolies in the bolt forward position and what does it hurt if they are not?

For spoolies without springs, like the Ion, Geo 1, etc, it doesn't matter, but for spoolies with springs, like the Geo 2, some people like to keep the bolt in whatever position the spring is relaxed in, either forward or back.
