I've been interviewing at MLM places since graduation. What I hate most is that they aren't upfront about the position when they call you or you talk to them about it. Even when I specifically asked if the position was sales/cold calling/door to door/ or family and friends pestering they twist their language and words into account manager, client consultant or some other phrase.
They all explained how you can make X if you just sell Y accounts and recruit Z more people. It is very enticing but I am highly skeptical of claims like that. I think that many companies are legit and do have good services/products to offer and are even publically traded on the NYSE but actually making the money seems like it is extremely tough and most people are expected to fail.
Some will pay for training and licensure if required. Others will give you some orientation and allow you to shadow someone else and basically put you out on your own trying to get referrals and leads. My problem is that the majority of people DON'T want to hear anything you have to say, don't want to buy anything even if it is free or will 100% of the time save them money. People have preconceptions of telemarketers and saleman and likely always will.
I was considering taking a job as some things do appeal to me but I'm not comfortable working 100% commission or getting in people's faces and being pushy. I might try it out anyway eventually if nothing I think I'd actually liek to do comes up. Good luck with your energy drink. Try and do real research on the company and see what past and present employees are saying about the brand. Also, don't be a ******* and post stupid **** online about yourself or the company for the whole world to see and your position compromised.
