No.... they play a strong system. They made Brian Elliot look like a star. In a 1v1 there aren't many Blues I'd take over Canucks.

Had better stats? When in the regular season?? What a joke if they didn't play The trap they would have gotten no where. The only reason there goalies look so good is due to the way they play in their half of the ice. Put Elliot or halak on a team that plays a different system and see how they do.

think lightning last year in the PO's. Closest example to a trap from the conference finals was probably the Phoenix ****dogs, but its not really the same thing. 2 years ago, the trap was almost impossible to use because the NHL actually called obstruction penalties, now they just let the ****ty teams drag the whole league down with gay strats.

In plain and simple english all you do is stack 5 guys on your half of the rink sit back and watch the other team attempt to break in but they fail and the audience all goes home and everyone watching the game falls asleep.

Cool thanks , for some reason I thought of a soccer offsides trap and realized there's no way that would make sense with the blue line being the barrier for offsides .
I still can't stand the ****ing dump and chase strategy , even though the devils do it well. It's probably because I play NHL 12 in a totally different style . |

Neutral zone trap. 1-2-2 formation, 1 guy forechecking, if he doesn't come up with the puck 4 players flood the neutral zone not allowing any offense basically. Sucks to watch.

Works good because it gets the D turned around and you can gain the zone by winning battles on the boards or simply winning the race to the puck. Doesn't work against goalies like Price, Brodeur, etc because they can play the puck well and you're basically handing them the puck.

That makes sense though old Marty ****s himself by passing to the wrong side sometimes when he leaves the net .
I still don't see why offensive players don't truck guys on defense more . Is that not allowed ? Like have the puck see the defender and lower your shoulder and blow him uP rather then dance around him kind of like Peyton hillis on a MLB

The chances of killing the defenseman AND keeping the puck are much lower than deking around him and keeping the puck.
