A Song of Ice and Fire
I just finished the first book(A Game of Thrones) in this series on recommendation from a friend. I must admit, I was blown away. Great fantasy novel. I just stared the second one (A Clash of Kings) and its still great.
Has anyone else enjoyed this series?

I haven't read any of them yet, but I'm getting more and more into fantasy literature, so I'll be adding these to my Amazon list.

I'm thinking I'll wait until he finishes writing the series until I grab the first book. I know it will probably take decades, but if it's anywhere near as good as Steven Erikson's novels, I'll want to plow through them one after another as I'm doing with the Malazan series.

I'm a little over half way through A Storm of Swords. I don't normally read fantasy, but a friend recommended these and I've loved them so far.

I'm currently about 250 pages into A Game of Thrones. I had to put it down for the past couple of weeks while I was reading some other books for school, but I just started again and I'm totally consumed. My physiology teacher actually recommended it to me based on my being "enough of a nerd to get it." I had been reading a lot of classic sci-fi (Wells, Verne, Lovecraft), so it's is a bit of a deviation from that, but equally enjoyable in its own right.
Just found out earlier today that HBO is going to make it a show... should be interesting.

The problem is, he has been taking his good old time writing a dance with dragons. I have been waiting YEARS for the latest book to come out, but he keeps on pushing back the release date. Who knows when it will be done.
Also, I second Erikson! The malazan series is top notch and Erikson can hammer out the books. I would put him right up there with G.R.R. Martin.

Very good reads. I've gotten through the first three and am waiting to pick up the fourth. Martin is a very compelling writer and really keeps you on your toes. I think the question I keep asking myself is, "Who's dying next?" Lol.

i am half way through the dance with dragons and it is great, i dont really like the characters that he focuses on in feast for crows so "dance" is great because you get back to the cool characters like tirion and jon snow(wall action) and danearys. dont give up just keep reading.
i too am frustrated with how long he is taking to write these. there are supposed to be 7 in all and it took him over 5 years to get this last one out. martin is no spring chicken. i hope he finishes them before he kicks the bucket.
