Lone Survivor

Has anyone read the book "Lone Survivor", about the Navy SEAL.

This book is my all time favorite book I have ever read. It might not be the most well written book but the passion the author puts into the story is inspiring and very moving. Extremely sad book but very happy in a patriotic way.

I have it on my "to-read" list. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

"Marcus Luttrel is not a hero."

It's an interesting read, and it's a good one... but it's an op nobody should have approved and there's a lot of hate on it, the author, and the book in military circles, or at least in the ones I've been around. There's a fair bit of praise, too, because the story is pretty intense, but the one critic in the fold who also has the scars to show he's been there and done that with MARSOC or the SF or the SEALs is enough for me to be on edge as I read it.

I would also recommend "American Sniper" by Chris Kyle. He is America's most prolific sniper in history, and this is just an account of his tours of duty as well as a lot of his kills. Very good read
