dry fire break in

I've been meaning to break in my new 2.0 internals. Would it be such a bad idea to run a full tanks through dry firing to help break in the o rings?

it wont hurt the marker as long as there is air in it and noid is not working alone.

If anything i'd think this would be a bad idea. Plus it kind of defeats the purpose since it's stopping the bolt from cycling...

Bad, how? I've done it with my dm12 and it was a noticeable difference.

Dry firing is abusive to detents because they are made to have a ball press against them rather than a bolt ramming through them.

In general, excessive dry-firing is bad for any marker. But to each his own. Easiest way to break in a gun, is ACTUALLY shooting paint through it.
Fun-fact of the day.

Yeah shooting paint is the best way but Ive shovel a swab down the barrel and dryfired till my air ran out. I didnt let the bolt cycle fully to dump the can so you can get alot more shots off the tank. The bolt still cycles like normal but doesnt make its full forward stroke to fire the gun.

Just remove the detents. I am not a fan of the putting something in the marker to keep the bolt from cycling fully. The entire purpose of this is to get the bolt to cycle fully and wear the o-rings.

As long as your marker is clean and the detents are out there will be no damage to the marker at all. Dry firing is no different than firing paint besides the balls traveling across the detents - thus why I would remove them to keep the bolt from slamming them.

your orings don't get anymore broken in if the bolt dumps the air or not, what does it is the bolt moving on the orings. So if you put a swab down your breech around a 1/2 an inch from the face of the bolt ( to allow the bolt to move but not dump the air) you can get a lot more done with a single fill.

I'm pretty sure it's fine. I do it with my gun all the time. I mean as long as it's lubed it should be alright.
