Start with the usual culprits: detents and breech seal. Try firing without the detents in place. If the problem goes away, it was the detents. If it persists, try the breech seal. Lift the seal out, scrape out the old adhesive pad, reglue it with a small dab of super glue and try firing. If the problem goes away, it was the breech seal. If it persists, check your ram. Open the rotobreech and hold it securely, then fire the gun while looking down into the bolt pin slot so you can see the hammer (use hearing protection - it will be very loud). If the ram itself is sticking forward you will need a new one.

Hey doc,

With a de gased a1, could you check for ram stick simply by seeing if it slides freely?

Not accurately, no. You can sometimes have a ram that moves freely when degassed, but which still sticks when installed in the gun. However, if the ram is grinding or sticking when degassed, that is usually a pretty good indication it is giving up the ghost.
