What do you use for lube and is it on your fingers/hands when you put the bolt back in?

No one is saying its your fault or anything what im getting at is how it could of happened. Chemicals even a small amount on a towel or hands, case foam or anything could of done this. Or it could be a flaw in the anno no one knows without looking at it. A picture really can't do it justice cause you would have to see the type of fading on it. Is the metal smoother than the rest of the marker where it is fading, is the coloring spotted ect. These are a way to tell if it's a chemical reaction.
But who am I to say anything I'm just trying to see if this could have been something other than a flaw

The texture is the same as the rest of the gun it looks and feels like the anno coat is there but the dye just disappeared.

Here's a Theory for you.

Guy who stole it tried to remove the color with Paint thinner (to change the appearance) or another chemical, not knowing anything about anodizing.

He managed to get a bit off the back before he just gave up.

He colored over the faded area with a sharpie.

When you cleaned it, you wiped off the sharpie.

BTW, you have a Prototype barrel back.

While that is a decent theory sharpie isn't a true black and would show up as a different color on the gun. There would be a noticable difference in color between the annoed portion and the sharpie colored portion.

Not sure what happened but I kinda like it.............just saying

Do you tend to carry your gun around by holding it near the back end? It could be something on your gloves as well. Old paint, old lube all soaked into the leather. I've seen that happen to guns before.

I do sometimes but not that often. Also I wash my gear after every practice so it's not that. Also I'm right handed so if that was what caused it it would be more on the right side of the gun.
