The best "Shoot all paint" bore?

I'm looking into a CF boomstick, and can likely only pick one....i have the choices of .692, .688, and .684. which would you recommend to me knowing that i will be using it for most paint.

.688

If I am 'winging it' with my boring when it comes to paint, I use either a .688 or a .689.

You can throw out the .692 becuase most paint manufacturers have been making their paint sizes smaller and smaller over the last few years to help cut costs.

At the end of the day, I would also err on the side of buying a less expensive barrel and make sure you have control backs to cover a wider array of paint sizes, but that is your choice.

I use mostly the .688 (DXS Silver at Tournament and Celtic during practice) , but last time i have to use the .695 Freakback. A perfect round paint with .695 (yes, i know the issues with the diameters of the Freak, but also tested with a .693 Shaft4 and .692 Boomstick and get breaks), thats very unusual today...

I currently use a Dye UL .684 and paint still rolls through it. I just got a .680 back and it worked perfectly with the Premeium Gold I just shot at our latest event. .684 is my go to size. Good Luck.

maybe it would be worth re-prioritizing my buys and getting both a .688 and.684?

That's a lot of money, but I'm sure you'll be happy with having both size backs just in case.

Unless your DM barrel has a 7 inch control bore, then I'd say yes.

Really is a waste of money,
Just go with one of the two. Its not like it'll make such a dramatic difference to where you'll HAVE to have the one of each. I'm sure you could use the money for something else. Manage your money man.

I think anything over a .686 is a waste of money. Especially since most guns come stock with a .688 already.

Sell your stock barrel which is a Dye UL and get like 65/70 for it. Then id buy or put together a UL kit with .680 .684 and .686 backs.

GI seems to be in the .680 range. Whereas PMI/Empire seems to be closer to the .684 bore size. Do know much about other paints though.

it depends your area on which bores best (you want to be around .004-.006 under the paint's bore size.

normally .685 is a highly recommended for a "general" suggestion since its either a good under underbore in areas with high humidity, or fits the ball at a very small underbore (maybe .001)

a good thing to do is go to the regional forums and ask what the best underbore in your area is

alright, i've been thinking, maybe better to shell out $200 for a SS freak kit and a deadlywinds fibur barrel over just getting 1 cf boomy for 160? that seems to make more sense to me.

get a used freak kit... 200 for that is a waste; chances are you'll use 2 inserts in 5 years

here is what i suggest doing: go to the regional forum and ask what the underbore in your area is, then get the 3 inserts around that (normally the smallest then 2 up) the 2 smallest will be for your best matches, and the largest will be an underbore, but almost like a "backup" incase its boring larger then normal that day.

this way you can get the deadlywinds barrel and im sure someone selling that barrel will have the 3 inserts you should have
