That's a tough one. There are a lot of new products that aren't particularly newsworthy and other products that might be more newsworthy even if they don't ever see the light of day. We don't want the Paintball News section to become the unfounded rumors forum. And we never want it to become the "preorder" forum. Or even the forum where products that are years out get discussed. We certainly never want News to be the place where people get the word out about a product they are working on so they can then in turn sell preorders and raise the money to make that product. That's a lot of risk for our users. We don't want them to have to risk their money like that. Sadly, that used to happen too much.
However, some new products are just too big. People want a place to discuss interesting products and they keep posting them in News. We sometimes still get burnt (everyone enjoying their Angel Eyes goggles?). The flip side of that is the eFlex goggles from Empire. They aren't out yet, but they aren't a rumor either. They will make it to market and it would be silly to stop them from being posted.
And no one from PE asked for that to be posted or stay up. They suggest things (like no PMing users selling new items for a potentially better price) but have never told us how to do things and they have been very polite and easy to work with even when we didn't do things their way. We don't always agree but they've taken it well when we had to turn them down. I wish more companies were that professional.
We do allow upcoming guns to be posted in News once there is some info on them. The SAR12, Vapor, Clone GT, MVP and others can be found on the first few pages of News. Exalt is not bringing their gun to market so it made sense to close that thread. However, we would allow that DM9 thread.
We have been actively trying to loosen up the News rules without just allowing everything. If you have some ideas on that, now's a great time to share them.

Since we have talked about this before, ill just up this thread for my next concern over the same topic.
No info, no specs, nothing more then marker with tape on it and that gets to slide?

I updated my response for you:
Some unreleased products are just too big to deny that they are newsworthy. People want a place to discuss interesting products and they keep posting them in News. We sometimes still get burnt (everyone enjoying their Angel Eyes goggles?). The flip side of that is the Vanquish. It is coming out and if it wasn't for PbNation, many people would have no idea.
And no one from Empire asked for that to be posted or stay up. In fact, Empire has asked us to remove things before and we try to politely decline.
We do allow upcoming guns to be posted in News once there is some info on them. The Vanquish, Impulse, new MacDev electronics and others can be found on the first few pages of News. Exalt is still not bringing their gun to market so it made sense to close that thread.
