Any advice on how to remove these things on my car, PO did a piss poor job of taking care of it.

First off, around all the tires there is some black ****, I assume tar or something that he drove through, whats the best and safest way to remove this?

Secondly, the ******* spraypainted the door cards, and didnt even take them off before doing so and got overspray on the doors. I have gone at it with a clay bar and it took a long time to see minimal results, any faster way to help remove spray paint overspray? Thanks

Tar

Overspray

May have a fun buff job coming through soon. Nearly twenty year old f750 that has quite obviously never been washed. Ever.

How's everyone's detailing going? It's been raining a lot here so the cars that I wash...get dirty right away haha. After my first full week at the dealership I guess they are already going to fire the other guy. I guess he doesn't go fast enough which doesn't make sense. He's at least twice as fast as me but does a half *** job. I make sure there's not a hard water spot/ghosting anywhere on the car before I bring it out.

Once he leaves and I move into full time when should I ask for a raise? I mean I guess no one even knows how to use a polisher at all either. They were astonished that I actually knew how to work one. They have been giving me ****ed up cars left and right now haha

I wouldn't ask yet, you're still very new. Glad to hear it's going well though.

I've been slow on the auction/wholesale side the past week, but I've been getting a decent amount of retail jobs lately. I'm hoping auction work picks up and I can supplement that with more retail jobs as I start to advertise.

hey guys i apologize if this is a dumb question, but i'm new to the topic. Do I have to have a buffer like the porter cable if i want to remove swirl marks from my car? If i am using the right products and pads can it be done by hand or is it stupid to even try?

Machine polishing is the only way to go, I'd get a PC 7424 at the very least.

yeah thats what im finding online as well. They aren't very serious but enough for me to notice them and want to get rid of them. I may try to wax and buff them out and if that doesn't work will be getting a PC 7424. thanks for the help.

Waxing won't get swirls out, you need a polish that doesn't have fillers in it.

Compound is what you use to remove scratches, it'll actually put in swirls. You need to find a quality polish. Will you buy online or in-store only?

id like to try in store first because the scratches are pretty light, but if it makes more sense to just buy online id do that. I thought that using a compound followed by a polish would take care of it, should i just use a polish then?

Only compound if you have to, compound is heavy and gritty, so it'll actually leave swirls in the paint.

If you have a carquest near you, buy 3M ultrafina. I'm honestly not sure which is the "best" if you're talking autozone/walmart brands.

If you're going to buy a Porter Cable, call Autoality, talk to eric(you can tell him Alan sent you) and he'll hook you up with a PC and the chemicals you'll need. Best part, orders from his place qualify for free shipping over 50 bucks.

Any ideas on removing pitting from chrome wheels? They aren't too bad, but I'd like to get some of the pitting cleaned up.

They're chrome, so I know there's not much I can do, but will the hand polishing technique work (wet sand, polish, etc.)? I hear it takes about 10 hours/wheel to do a good hand polishing job, so it might not even be worth it...

sounds like if i really want to get these out im going to need to get a buffer. There is a carquest near me and the ultrafina looks like what i want but id like to try something by hand before I go all out and get the porter, thanks for the hook up though I will be calling him if i decide to buy one.

Not to say you can't do it by hand, but the PC is a great investment. You can use it it remove small scratches, swirls, and wax the car. It'll also save you a ****load of time, and you'll get much better results.

The ultrafina is a good polish, if you end up buying the PC online I'd just ask eric what he reccomends. He carries an assortment of products and he's an honest guy.

If you have any other questions lmk.
