What if you have an iPhone, as I do? Just turn it off instead of taking the battery out and keeping it in your security drawer?

make sure you have a lock code set on it and then power that ***** off. maybe I'm just paranoid about people messing with my **** but I use a lock code so if I leave it laying around they will have two options: guess which of the 10000 possible four number combinations I have set as the unlock code or dial 911.

I'll be putting a security code on my phone. One thing I want to know is how big of a deal wallet pictures really are. Would they make it that bad to not bring them? I just don't want people to be mailing me **** and causing more hassle. I'll be emptying it of everything but my bank stuff basically.

Yeah, they are going to keep the main part of the phone so, you just have to power it off and turn it in.

Really I took everything that I had in my wallet and didn't have a problem. small conservative pictures they aren't going to ***** about... Too much.
Make sure you have a credit card and don't bring cash, it is far too much of a hassle by maintaining your money list.
I spent about $600 in total in basic including the $400 card that they give you. You'll spend more money on dry cleaning than you thought possible and it is retarded. You have to dry clean your ABU's when it is in AFI that you aren't suppose to press the uniform.
Dye to the reporting statement, it is every time you start a conversation with a MTI, he calls you over, you have a question, you are at the position of attention and the first thing that comes out of your mouth is a reporting statement. You continue the conversation at the position of attention, yes sir, no sir. Be VERY conscious if there is a female MTI teaching the lesson, or is even your MTI. You will get your *** chewed if you call a female sir.
You don't have to repeat the reporting statement unless another MTI asks a question of you, you give them a reporting statement, then if the other one starts another conversation with you, you give another reporting statement.
Just be prepared to have a really ****ty (and the longest) first 2-3 weeks and then after that it starts to get a little better because you start doing more stuff, FEST, CATM, Obstacle course etc.

Thanks man.
I have two pictures that I'll keep, dgaf. Debit cards, piece of paper with routing and account number and any phone numbers I might call. Plus phone card just in case.
Edit- To the other kid asking about the list, I'm leaving tomorrow so I can tell you what I have if you want.

I love the dorms, when it's 20* outside the heat goes out and you can't have hot water. When it's 80* outside the AC doesn't work and your water is scorching hot. What the ****ing ****.

Valdumpster?
And the grass isn't always greener dude.. You could have $300 utility bills like me at the peaks of each season.. People always want to rush to move out of the dorms or off base out of housing.. It's great until you see how much you realize to spend on gas, utilities and shopping. Not to mention actually having to fix the **** in your house.

We got like 5 mins each week on Sundays and then one 15-20 min phone call. I had a phone card just in case. The only time it got used was when someone else's cell broke.

I was the only one from my flight who didn't go to church, so I got to sleep in a bit the 2nd and 3rd weeks. Then my MTI found out that I was the only one who didn't go, so I helped out with ****.

I stayed back from church. We kinda just touched up the dorms, but nothing serious. We enjoyed the quiet time. I went to one Buddhist service for the hell of it once. It fell perfectly during some other bull**** the flight had to do so I did that instead.
