The chick is cute, thereby making the gun look worse.
Like the hot girl who has a fat friend to make herself look hotter.

hearing a lot of "oh its ugly", who cares if its affordable (299.95 MSRP) and shoots 30 bps?
it looks pretty small and looks like it could roll with the axe. Im ready to see a bunch of another product like the axe around making paintball more affordable for the average joe.

Hey guys,
Looks like some of you checked out our teaser of the Proton on Facebook. The engineering and product development staff at Valken have been hard at work the past few months refining and tweaking the performance and aesthetics of the Proton.
I spent last week at the Valken HQ testing and reviewing the gun from an outsider's perspective, and while I was initially very skeptical, I have no doubt that this gun will impress everyone. For the price, the performance, and overall feel, it's a winner--I don't think there's anything in it's price range that comes close. I was *incredibly* impressed with the gun.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks where we'll release full specs, more information and photos, and a few videos demonstrating the gun and it's features. I will answer any questions (that I'm allowed to ) that you guys have, post them up.
Hope to spend more time with you guys soon

It's a value proposition.
The same tool that Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini have been using for years. While it's certainly not practical in everyday use, the capabilities of the product are impressive in and of itself.
While it might not appeal to you, surely there is a YouTube video in the making of somebody cranking out 30bps in a backyard somewhere.

That front grip looks slippery as hell. Reg grip or tape would about be required.

hard to get a good idea of what it looks like..
no eye plates? agreed on the slippery front
grip, don't seem it'd fit the exalt ones either
I'd love to give it a spin for a game or two..

Final version has finger grooves and more textures. Excellent eye though, much appreciated

Has eye covers, with hidden screws. Hard to see, but see here:
I was 100% skeptical when I heard about it (we have a lot of guns "shopped" to us as OEM projects), but I shot it and was incredibly enthused about tweaking it and releasing it. Wish this kind of stuff was around when I started playing!

gonna be interesting to see this one in action... I like the idea of companies bringing lower priced guns for the young guys can afford to buy. And my son is looking for a new gun so I may show him this and see what happens

I like the idea, we'll see it looks cheap though. With these kind of guns its all about reliability to me, it they can produce a $300 gun that shoot great and is reliable it will be a sure thing.

Straight and to the point! http://www.facebook.com/TheHeatherHunter
She was a champ about the situation-- I showed up to New Jersey in typical California fashion--shorts\t-shirt\flip-flop sandals, and we had to go do this photoshoot in 45° weather with 20-30mph winds. She wound up with cold from after the shoot, too.

I am with you. Coming from SLY -> Valken has been an eye-opening transition...Valken really tries to include something for everyone. This thing should be solid.

No polymer on this thing--I don't doubt you'll be impressed with reliability.

It's a foregrip, not a reg--contains the primary motherboard (with a "daughter-board" above the grip frame). It has a series of status LEDs there that indicate eye status, mode, settings, programming, etc.
