So, I have a couple barrels that were bored for freak inserts. I got a few small bore brass inserts from somebody on MCB, and they worked perfect. He does not have anything bigger than .680. I bought two brass inserts from Palmers, and they were too big. I actually cannot get one of them out, and may have ruined that bored out barrel.

Anyone, know if the OD on stainless steel freak inserts is the EXACT OD of their Al inserts? Or if anyone can post the OD of either, I would really appreciate it.

they should be, seeing as they are designed to be interchangeable

put your barrel back in some hot water for a few minutes. then whatever you do no't put another one back in until it's cold again.

Fill the bore with water and plug up the ends. Stick it in the freezer until the water starts freezing. DON'T wait until it is solid as ice expands and you might damage the barrel. Now turn on the faucet and let it run as hot as possible. Run the outside of the barrel under the hot water. The insert will be contracted by the semi-frozen water inside it and the barrel back will be expanded by the hot water. The bore may just drop out or need some minor prodding to get it out.
