Do you have to use Flow Insert? and Dwell Question

So I just got a Dye NT 10, I have a kind of retarded question for all the NT guys.

I understand that you don't have to use the spacer inserts, but do you have to have the bolt flow insert? And if so, which bolt flow insert is the best to use for shooting brittle paint. I understand from some of the forum/manual, that the green tip is the best for brittle paint, but I only have the red and blue tips, so does anyone know which one would be better out of those?

Dwell: Okay, so the manual says default dwell is 6 MS, but when I have it set to 6 the bolt doesn't fully cycle. Is it normal to have to up the dwell one or two ms?

I set the reg to about 135, blue insert, dwell of 7, and the body spacer.

Wouldn't using the spacers make the pressure higher on the ball?... For the lowest pressure for what you have, no spacers or spacer body and blue insert since you dont have the green one.

i used to use dwell 7,reg 125 or so and a no spacer body.now with the nt11 bolt in it i use dwell of 8, green flow insert and spacer body or it wont shoot once the tank gets to 1k psi without a spacer body in it.

I just remember before the nt11 came out the standard for the nt10 was blue insert with a spacer body and 1 ring because if it didnt have that it wouldn't shoot properly. Honestly I would say just send your gun in to billy wing so he can mod it for you and then it will be able to shoot anything

Is it normal for the nt10 not shooting with the green insert unless it has a body spacer?

The NT10 needs the spacer body and at least one spacer to get optimal performance out of the gun. ****** Mike mentioned this in his video of the NT10.

I never tried shooting it with the green insert and no back body because i never got an official green insert, i did however send my nt10 in to get bwing'd and when i got it back now i just use the insert he made with no spacers and it shoots amazingly

Yea I'm about to send mines in. Mine has the nt11 internals except the manifold and it won't shoot under 310 Fps. It needs the body spacer.
Pressure is at 130.

You get it to 300 without a spacer, then drop velocity with spacers.

Thanx. I was shooting hot this past weekend cuz I didnt have a spacer on. What dwell would be best since I have the nt11 internals besides the manifold?
I have it at 7 now

I'd do 8 or 9 with the 11 internals. Try both.

if you don't have any spacers, can you just use a cut piece of macroline wrapped around the stem to take up volume? or even wrapping some sort of tape around the stem?

I've heard some people using macroline, but my gun is fine without anything so i don't need to do that

Yes, you can use tape or anything that is fixed and wont float around.
