I picked up a new etha the other day and had a few questions. Sorry if these have been asked before.
When I air up the etha it doesn't leak, but when I turn it on and fire a shot it shoots, makes a hissing noise, then when i fire a second time it doesn't fire, then starts acting normal after the third firing.
Is this just a way to prevent first shot drop off? Or is something wrong with the reg?
I don't believe that's correct. I'm guessing you got the gun second hand? You might want to start with a cleaning of the bolt and reg, new battery and as suggested before, resetting to stock settings.
Was it new? If it's used I'd hesitate to say your should set the board back to factory defaults before you mess with anything else.
Naw, but it only had a case through it.

Yessir I did. I too the bolt apart and cleaned it and re lubed it.
I'll do everything tomorrow and get back with the results. Other then that in the beginning the gun shoots perfect.
Sounds like something sticking on the poppet. Take out the poppet spring and compare it to the springs in the spares bag. Do they look similar? The one in the gun may be 1-2mm shorter, but it should be straight.
Jack
Is there anything at all on the bolt guide? The bolt guide and bumper should be completely dry. No lube, no oil. Nada.
Dang..didn't know that lol. I slightly lubed it.
Perhaps the bolt is sticking to the bolt guide?

The one in the gun is shorter and is straight. Should I swap it for the bigger spring?

My gun had same issue had to send my gun in to a PE Service center Wednesday and they got it today hopefully won't take long. The guy at the store in saint Louis where I'm from says it's a solenoid issue, so looks like you'll be sending yours in too unless you wanna attempt at fixing but voiding the warranty in the same hand. Sorry bro I was mad too
Have you tried just turning the inline reg down just a fraction and seeing if it still does the same? Or increasing the dwell by 2ms?
I have't seen anything like that before where it is just the second shot that is missing. Very strange.
Is there another Etha owner local to you that you could try swapping parts out with so we can try and work out which part is causing the issue? First I would swap out the complete drive train. This would tell us if it is the solenoid or the drivetrain that is the problem.
Of course, we would love to take care of it back at the RI office if you'd like to send it there for us to look at. It's alwasy good to see these issues first hand so that we can work out a solution and know exactly what to suggest to customers that may have this problem.

Yes sir, and yes.
No one local that has the same gun as of right now. Also saw in another thread a similar problem
to mine (also has a video) I'll shoot you a pm jack and go ahead and send it your way. Thanks again!
