Finally got a shocker-noob
hey everyone, I have always wanted a shocker for the longest time and finally got a sft shocker. I was just wondering if anyone had info on goods bads etc. things i might need to upgrade or things i should change to make it last long.
my gun includes the following upgrades.
-Blackheart board-HE bolt
-HE firing can
-NXT HE bolt guide
-Strange PL SFT Reg
-Aftermarket lever lock feedneck
-Red eye plate
-Check it direct mount on/off ASA
If this is all i need that's cool than. lol
Now if the solenoid ever went on me (i know this is noob) but do new boards come with the solenoid on it or is that a different part of the gun. never have taken one apart. Thanks everyone.
Lastly. Can i swap nxt into the sft nor not?

most of the parts from the sft can go on the sft and the NXT
only things i am thinking really fast here that CAN'T be are....
Feedneck
barrel back
Eyes
detents
trigger
lower board (if it's a stock sft board)
probably forgeting something else.......
You can upgrade really alot the shockers.... that's what i like about them and when i buy them, i like to change them the way i want. You can't do that with guns today. there is one model and the only thing you can do is reanodized it or laser it to make it diffrent for everybody else. Shockers on the other hand have Tons of upgrade...... are they a necessity NO
With what i see on your shocker you have an already modified shocker right there..... you could do more if it shoots great and have no problems..... don't look for it... just leave it as it is and have fun !
For the solenoid part i am a little confuse with the question.......
They are 2 different solenoid on shockers
Humphrey solenoid and parker solenoid
They are little differences on both but performance wise they are very minimum
People prefer humphrey solenoid because if you screw your grip frame screws too far and damage your solenoid you can change your board in 2 min since it just slides off...... For parker solenoids you need to desoder it off and put a new one....(you could purchase a humphrey upper board in stores....not sure if you could for a parker.... i guess soo but never saw one)

There are LOTS of shocker parts being sold on this site. If you need a piece more than a few will be selling it. The only thing that are hard to find are some trigger frames like CCM, TonTon, Freeflow.
The only thing I recommend is getting an o-ring kit and possibly a sprung bolt if you're experiencing any type of first shot drop-off. Other than that the shocker has the normal upgrades that one may put.

You can get your O-ring sets @ O_ring Monkey.com and there are lots of people to help here. Read through the posts, look at the Shocker of the month thread to see some examples of what others are doing with their shockers.
The Noid is attached to a secondary board up a little further.
Good luck and play with it a few times before changing anything, really it may be fine as it is.

bump..
congratulations on your sft purchase..
as far as maintenance goes, just make sure you clean and lube it after each game, check the o-rings and you'll have an almost fault-free experience with your marker..
sleek lube is basic, i personally like monkey poo and it works well for me..
and for upgrades, there are a lot of options you can consider and everything will depend on your budget and how far you want to go with the upgrades..
my suggestion is play with your sft first and get used to it...then slowly tweak it to suit your playing style..
performance wise, here's 4 of my personal favorites..
(1) Pooty's spring modded bolts IS A MUST!!!
(2) A critical paintball trigger (unless you are going with a CCM frame in the future)..
(3) Sanchez Machine1 Orbium3 barrels (or a full freak set)
(4) A reg with a faster recharge rate, my vote goes to the AKA 2-liter...
Welcome to the Shocker Family!!!

You don't need to clean/relube after every game. After a long day of play, it is recommend tho. If you are ever looking for performance upgrades, look into mods instead of after market parts. Cheaper and you'll see greater gains.
For your current set up, I'd say an adjustable bolt guide and the Qev ports on the bolt would do you right.

Thanks again. I see a lot of pics in the shocker of the day post with massive different colors on the ano. How would i go about turning my red sft into a nxt with green ano? I'm Irish and would love to get something done like that. I like the look of the nxt over the sft. Any help on what frames to switch or however i go about making the gun my own taste would be great. Thanks again for the wonderful support. I just love these guns.

I was in your same boat. I always wanted a shocker but never was able to afford one. I quit paintball for a little bit and when I came back I bought a NXT for pretty cheap. Welcome to the family!

First off, welcome to the family.
Next, NXT VA will not work/fit on an SFT. But the SFT VA will work on the NXT body. Feedneck and barrel threads to not match. SFT uses Shocker threads, NXT uses the Impules/Smart Parts threads. Also, the feedneck threads were changed on the NXT. Internals are the same for both markers, it's maily the body, frame, reg and VA that make an SFT and SFT and an NXT an NXT besides the eyes.
Depending on how much money you want to spend you can do almost anything you want with a shocker. Next week I'll be getting ready to have my project shocker anodized to finish it off. I have built a cross between an SFT (body) and and NXT (PL NXT frame). The major modification I'm using will be NXT eyes and detents on the SFT body. I'm also still debate'n on a full body milling.
From the list you put there, you have a decent setup and may not want to do much with it from there. Play a few days with it and see what you think. Once you have that baseline feel for it's performance you will know what to start tweeking to fine tune it for your own feel. My build is taking all the good I like with a shocker and remove the bad to make my perfect shocker setup.
