Vaseline In a Demon

So I see this is becoming quite a popular fix when it comes to many Demon issues these days which really quite confuses me but I am not going to argue with something that works...

Now thing is, I am picking my Demon up at LL5, and I want to use Vaseline for my lube right away, and wipe down the entire bolt system and HPR and then I am hoping to get some good chrono readings and stuff since it apparently improves consistency and FSDO prevention.

My question is, down the road, am I going to have to get even further into the marker and clean off all the regular Dow 55 they used in the more intricate parts, like on the manifold and areas like that with Vaseline? Do I need to worry about cleaning off every single oring from the stock lube and relube with vaseline?

Or does it really matter and I can just lube the bolt and HPR with vaseline and be fine. Yeah I know, sounds like a stupid question but I want to be sure of what I should do before I do it.

I don't want to take it all apart unless I have to.

If you decide to go the Vaseline route...which I personally will not do...you need to think about static o-rings (ones that dont move) and moving o-rings. Putting different lube on a static o-ring really won't do anything for you. They only have one purpose...preventing leaks. If you decide to go Vaseline...you really only need to focus on the moving o-rings and o-rings that have stuff moving on them etc.

I personally love Sleek. It has been my "go-to" grease for years. I have used it on pretty much every gun I have owned until I got the Demon. I didn't put it on the Demon simply because I was told Dow 55 is the ONLY grease that should be used.

If you worried about chrono fluctuations, i use marmalade and that stuff works wonders. I use it on the bolt, reg, everything and my demon shoot +- 3 all day and no fsdo.

When i had mine it worked great with marmalade and monkey poo. If your getting it new i wouldn't worry about issues it seems like the ones coming fresh out the factory are working well. Run what they recommend unless you have issues IMO

This guy knows whats up.

With Dow 55, my gun has been amazing. My only complaint is having to grease the thing after each case/day of play. I have owned many spool valve guns, most of which I didn't have to touch except once...maybe twice a month.

I think that's just the result of making the high flow efficient internals is that a lot of grease gets used up or blow through the system quick. I remember I had an old Quest(similar bolt design) that was great on air, but also used a lot of grease. It's a small price to pay for the higher shot count I suppose.

Someone needs to invent a grease injection port like they have on gym equipment and heavy machinery lol. Just clip the grease gun on and squeeze. Done

Alright, so I guess I will likely just keep the regular grease on unless I have issues. I have a bunch of Dow 55 at home so I will use that for LL5, but when I get home, I may end up cleaning off the bolt system and using vaseline for it, and leaving all the other parts with regular Dow 55.

Guys, don't use DOW 55, or Vaseline on anything other than the moving parts on your bolt. Please Please Please don't put DOW 55 or Vaseline in your regulators.

For regulators, use a DOW 33 product, sleek, monkey poo, marmalade, etc.

So many different lubes to use then!!! So essentially, just put Monkey Poo on everything (Regulator, manifold area and any other orings including the static bolt orings) and use vaseline for the inner can and bolt orings?

I use monkey poo on the regulator and the bolt and both my demons shoot ropes and have a +- of 4 over the chrono

They recommend DOW 55 on the forward sealing o-ring, o-ring #3 from the front of the can. This o-ring is slightly too small and can cause a leak, so that's why the recommendation of DOW 55 ever started, to swell that 1 o-ring slightly to seal off the leak if it is present in your marker.

Otherwise, Monkey Poo is what was originally sent by Vanguard with the first several batches of Demons. Then they switched to some green goo, not sure what brand that was.

If they are sending Dow 55 for use in the entire gun, that would be a mistake...IMO, which is very well informed on the goings on at Vanguard especially in regards to issues and fixes for the Demons. I own Demon #3 as well as two prototype Demons on my team...been doing this a while.

Agreed, the 55 is only there as a preventative agent for the machining that was a little off spec and causing problems on some guns. It's not needed for any other reason. If your gun has no problems then use whatever you want.

...every single one of there maintenance videos lol

They are now sending the Demons out with a DVD instead of a paper manual. I couldn't count on my fingers and toes how many times the term "molykote 55" was used in the multitude of videos.
