Getting a conceal permit here is pretty easy as well. All you are required to do is take a 3-4hr class that teaches the basics of pistol safety and the basic "can and cannots" of conceal carry. My permit only ran me like $100 and that includes the fee for the class.
I am also one of those people that cant stand Glocks. I have big hands and they just dont feel right for. Plus I hate that i cant easily hit the mag release even with how big my hands are. With my USP Compact and Sig p226 I dont have to alter my hand position to release and reload. I love the ambidextrous release on the usp right under the trigger guard.
THIS. MN is the same way with C&C permits and purchases. The Glocks and XDs are just not for me, they feel like crap in my hand, the releases aren't placed well IMO, and they're inconsistent from shot to shot IMO. The mag releases and safeties on HKs specifically, as well as Walthers and most Sigs are correctly positioned for me to do fast and efficient reloads and mag drops.
I also felt that XDs were incredibly cheap and sloppily made, based on my experiences with the 6 or 7 I've shot. Glocks shoot nice, but the frame angle and feel of the frame don't do my shooting position justice, I also don't care for their releases at all.
I have yet to find a Sig, Walther, or HK that I can't pick up and instinctively toss 3-4 mags through without getting it in the 8-10 rings every shot.
I'm somewhat particular about firearms in general tho, if I'm honest, as I don't care for $2000+ 1911's or my buddy's M9 either, honestly. Even with rifles I tend to be a bit particular on how I like the firearm set up, I can shoot the trigger off an AR/m4 platform, but once I'm behind an AK or SKS I tend to feel awkward. Idk what it is about it, but the ergos don't play nice with me, so I try to stick with ARs and FAL type platforms, or similar.
