Couple of first timers for LL
So my friend and I plan on flying from Alberta, Canada to LL5 this year. Since we are going to be travelling such a great distance I am trying to eliminate all questions before I get there.
1. What hotel do you recommend we stay at to minimize travelling (there is taxis in that town right?)? At the same time we don't want to stay in some junky hotel.
2. Since we need to take our regs off our tanks to fly would one of the air companies be there to re-install them. Its not that I can't do it, I would rather trust someone who is a professional at it.
3. Over the whole weekend how much time is there to watch the nppl tournament and see all the booths?
4. What team do you recommend?
I'll probably think of some more questions to ask in the future but these are the main ones.

1. My team and I are staying at the Towneplace Marriot Suites, because we got a good deal. Check out The Hampton Inn as well, and a few others. Look through old LL hotel threads and you'll find some great suggestions
2. See Above
3. As much time as you want, but just remember every second you spend off the field, your respective team is down 1-2 players . But seriously, its your time, enjoy it as you want! I personally want to watch a few of the NPPL matches and see some of the craziness again! I went to the HB one last year, my first NPPL event as a spectator and it was awesome!
4. Well, do you want to play the Oppressive and Tyrannical Imperial Forces, or the hearty, strong, and dashingly good looking (in a rugged sort of sense ) member of the Free People of the Horde Alliance?

Well when you put it that way I don't think I have any other option than the horde
This event would be two firsts for me, first big game of this size and first nppl event as a spectator, I want to take in as much of both as I can. Also I don't want to buy stand tickets for the whole weekend when i'm only able to watch one day.
Thanks for the help so far.

NPPL is a lot of fun to watch, but it can get pretty loud with all the spectators .
This will be my first scenario of this size, played some smaller ones in the MidWest. Don't worry about buying stand tickets, I mean why go watch games, when you can go watch some and play in one big one!

haha True enough.
Another question: We'll probably be flying into o'hare airport, is there a shuttle service between Joliet and o'hare? Or a train or something?

Definitely no train from Ohare straight to Joliet. Best bet is to rent a car...or show some skin and hitch a ride.

I wish we could rent a car but my friend and I are only 18 and 19, its going to take some effort for us to get there I think haha.
And we will definately stop by your booth, I might even buy a new reg for my tank, the one on it is getting quite aged. Thank you.

you can take the train from O'hare to Chicago and from Chicago to Joliet, the CTA Blue line ( http://www.transitchicago.com/riding...ports.aspx#ord) will get you to chciago and the Metra Rock Island line Out of LaSalle street station ( http://metrarail.com/metra/en/home/m...ation.LSS.html) will get you to Joliet, in Chicago it less then a block from the CTA to the Metra stations (linky). I don't know about a shuttle or a cab from the Joliet station to CPX, but its a 7-8 mile drive to the field, I will look into it for you and post up if I can find something.
