FFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
So I bought a new PSU tonight, because it seemed that my system was running low on power, in addition to the vid card warning of "not being supplied with enough power" at each start up.
I have new problems, like the computer locking up now, every now and then my screens have a quick flash...
In the midst of writing the reply, my computer locked up AGAIN!
I'm now back to my old PSU...

I found a pod of paint in a box my mom had been saving since high school for me. Shot better then some of the field paint they had the other weekend. |

Any suggestions for a budget PC MoBo and CPU?
I don't PC game, though I am looking at iRacing, but looks less graphics intensive than a Wii...
I mostly browse the internetz, run a video player (usually VLC) and some very light weight programs, that include datalogging from automotive ECMs (Test bench) and a PC based oscilliscope. I do need a serial port, though I do have a PCI serial card I could use, don't need IDE (will buy a new optical drive).
I'd rather not use no name brands, though I'm not opposed to it, and will not be buying online, just need ideas on models that I could buy locally.
I have a tower (Antec Model 300), and will re-use it.

How budget is "budget"?
Anything by Asus for the motherboard, some form of AMD 4 or 6 core processor. Should be <$300 for both.

I could see myself spedning between $200 and $300 (CDN) for both CPU and MoBo, then there's the new CPU cooling and probably RAM....

I would advise you NOT to get any sort of bare bones kit that includes MSI mobo's.. I got two that didnt work  then built my own with an ASUS

to bad amds new processor cant run at its full potential because windows os's cant support it fully.

Agree if you are running for performance. But he said he's on a budget and the 4/6 core AMDs outperform the i3 iirc.

AMD's new processor is just **** it has nothing to do with Windows. When you have 8 cores and can't keep up with Intel's 6 core i7 you did something very wrong.

are they really that bad? My friend was trying to explain them to me, and that's my very first thing I asked him. " why did amd need to make 8 core processors to compete with quad core processors from intel".
I haven't been keeping up on new pc stuff since I quit my job at this computer tech place. I need to build a new pc too, so input would help. 
id love to get a i7 processor but i dont have that kind cash right now.
Probably have 400 bucks max. ( i have a tower, pws,) but need mobo, cpu, ram. I think I can pick up those 3 things for 4 bills. But then id need to get a graphics card too, and I dont even know whats new there... I should research whats up instead of typing on here.... lolollolol |
