Thank you for your useless commentary. At the very least, you could have made it humorous so that some value may be abstracted from your efforts.

Looked into what? A connection between progressive politics and appeasement? As someone who doesn't call himself a progressive, I don't care enough to look into it.
But blaming a respect for people, regardless of the gender they identify with on appeasement and linking that to a political philosophy the source doesn't even prescribe to is a ****ing copout to avoid discussion of the actual topic.
The word "appeasement" isn't even relevant to the topic in this thread, unless you've all sunken to pulling your political rhetoric from Fox News hot words.

Appeasment isn't really relative to radical egalitarianism. Philosophy is important, though. And egalatarianism relates directly to this topic.

The issue isn't the ****ing beauty pageant for the last time. I used it because it is a good example of what I am trying to discuss.

i guess i just don't understand the problem other then the obvious question of which bathroom the person will use. Or maybe the issue of male athletes that will remove their organs in order to play female sports.
i dunno it just seems like something that doesn't effect me and never will

I agree with that.
Apart from the person from England you referenced, what are you afraid of? If you married them I think there would be bigger trust issues at play.
Personal aside: I suspect one of my coworkers went through the change. Actually I'm pretty sure they did because she showed me pictures of herself as a kid and she was definately a boy. Funny thing is every few months she goes to Vegas to do some call girl work. She said she makes a killing. She doesn't need the money though, although 5k in a weekend isn't bad. I think she just does it for fun.

Not posting pictures of my friends online. Sorry. I don't have originals of her at a youth anyway.
The only reason I saw pictures of her as a kid was because she brought photos to work of beaches in Thailand, (i was planning a trip) where she grew up, and she was in some of them.
There's more stuff that makes me suspect the switch.
In Vegas she goes to work "parties" that one of her friends sets up. I'm not into that scene, so maybe you guys know more about it than me. She says she gets paid 3-5 k for a weekend.

There are bigger issues out there no doubt. I believe this to be worth discussing anyway.
I ask the question of what gender even means anymore. Is chopping off your penis and faking hormone production enough to be a women? If yes, why?
We live in an age where we willingly re-define concepts and understanding to fit our desires. Where do we draw the line? How do we effectively communicate anything?

lately western society has entered an unprecedented era of "tolerance" and political correctness. in some ways it has allowed for the civil rights of marginalized groups to expand greatly. in other ways it gives some groups rights that normal people simply don't have. criticism of christianity and other beliefs is tolerated and expected; criticism of islam is now taboo and unwelcome.
one thing that really surprised me over the last 20 or so years, is that the transgender community is now synonymous with the gay/lesbian community. the two are not the same. one group does not seek to change their identity, the other does. the transgender community seems to also expect the rest of the world to not mind, or not notice, that they alter their appearance, via clothing, surgery, or whatever.
gender is not a spectrum whether we like it or not. there are males, females, hermaphrodites and pseudo-hermaphrodites. of course the latter two are case-by-case. the former two are not.
am i arguing that individuals should not be able to alter their appearance to the extent that they see fit? no, in no way. but that's what it is; altering their appearance. this does not make you a male or female. how you feel, how you identify, does not determine your gender. how can one say they feel trapped in another gender's body, when they have never been another gender??
i really hope public support of transgenderism ends. there are certain things that are socially unacceptable for a reason, not just because of human ignorance. people are uncomfortable about transgenders because they see them as neither male nor female. many transgenders who underwent surgery feel the same; permanently altered in gender limbo. many times it turns out they were dealing a gender fetish or something similar. and they can't go back now.
so, i think it sucks that miss universe canada is allowing transgender participants to compete so long as they look female. luckily its a pageant that i dont care about in another country.
