Wear them in practice if you want to, but I've never seen any case of a player being injured where slider shorts would have made any difference, so they are not a safety item, and if you're worried about bruises or something, I might suggest taking up knitting.

Actually the whole reason why I decided to wear slider shorts is from an injury. Once I slid on the ground and my barrel swab tore right through my pants ripped apart my skin leaving 2 HUGE road burns and I was bleeding.

Elbow pads and knee pads are allowed you just need to wear short sleeves t-shirt and of course shorts underneath that provide no additional padding.

9.1.1. Players must wear only one pair of full-length pants and only a long-sleeved jersey.
Players may wear only one layer of underclothing consisting of, at maximum, one pair of under-shorts and one short or long sleeve t-shirt, provided that it contains no padding. Any
other soft padding in garments is prohibited.

"9.2.5. Players may wear one layer of padding and/or other protection on the elbow, forearm,
knee or shin, provided that padding and/or protection has not been modified from the
manufacturer‟s original"

"9.2.8. Male players may wear groin protection and female players may wear breast protection."

In my opinion, I think there are gonna be more injuries and things, due to the fact that a player can not have as much padding as before. Also, I think you should be able to wear as much padding as you want under your jersry and pants. As long as you have team uniformity (everyone has the same jersey and pants), then they should be able to wear what they wat

Sometimes I bleed where I get shot with a paintball. It's a contact sport boys, let's toughen up a little. Bounce pads wont help you win tournaments.

To be fair, sliding can cause a lot of pain. You can't really compare baseball to paintball since dirt is more damaging than grass/turf, but you can google around and look at some disgusting pictures of abrasions from sliding without sliding shorts. This isn't just "bleeding". This is the entire top layer of skin missing in a 4"x4" area.

You may not be able to wear padded slider shorts, but you can still wear unpadded compression shorts. These shorts hug you skin and reduce friction significantly. If you're worried about burns just wear compression shorts. I used to do it all the time when playing ultimate frisbee on terrible turf, and I was just fine.

I disagree. I have seen players injured pre slider shorts. I have seen deep bruising and missing skin from many snake players.

Do the NCPA Allstars wear slider shorts when they play the PSP or do they follow the NCPA rules?

I totally agree with your stance on chest protectors Chris, but honestly slider shorts are for protection. I have almost never gotten shot in my upper thigh/hip where it didn't break on the material of my pants. I see why you would ban as much padding as possible but for aggressive front players, thick elbow pads, knee pads, and slider shorts are almost required to avoid nasty abrasions like above. That being said, it's your league and I'll abide by the rules but it seems like a better idea to prevent injuries rather than amend the rules after someone gets hurt. Since we play so many points anyway, the better team should come out on top even if someone might possibly get bounced on his leg once

I agree with the banning of chest protectors. I have seen bounces. Banning slider shorts just makes no sense. We aren't just talking about surface bruising, we are talking about deep bruises, which are an entirely different matter, along with missing skin.

You are ignorant. A huge road rash/burn exposing a 3x4 inch patch of BARE SKIN causes a lot of pain. Paintball pants around the hips arnt very padded for sliding. The side of my leg looked like the picture above. Play with that for the rest of the day and tell me it doesnt hurt.

Oh and BTW like I said I dont wear them for "bounces" in fact I dont wear any padding for bouncing. I wear slider shorts and forearm pads for protection during sliding, and knee brace to keep my knee from locking up.

This again. Slider shorts dont help me get more bounces compared to not wearing them.

Regardless of the rule I doubt ANY ref would tell me to drop my pants to see what Im wearing underneath. It would be pretty gay.

True. However, in the off chance someone notices your slider shorts over the top of your pants or something, it's a penalty. I would be freaking pissed to lose a game because I wore hip protection. The rule needs to be re-examined next season
