+48-53 waist
would like to avoid using the extension harness if possible

Pcs makes a tac vest that I use. Otherwise, just get an extender. Mine works fine, and you can barely tell it's on there

i think the empire fast pack should do,im like a 36-40 & theres a lot of room still,im not sure if the hinge pack is the same as the fast pack but most definitely the fast pack since i use it now,its comfy as well

A pack with an Velcro extender from valken should do the trick they have up to 20" extensions

got some NXE Elevation harness with an extender and it works great.
took a while to get used to it but its good so far.

I have a friend that wears 52 waist, and valkin with extender sowed in works just as good dont even notice it's there

If you can find them...the redz dimensional packs can be huge. I would imagine you would have to find them used. But the 2xl pack fits 60+ inch waste. They aren't as fancy as the current packs but they are extremely comfortable and supportive.
