Nerve for sale at local shop

My local shop has a used nerve for $110. to me that seems like a steal, however i have a few questions having never shot/owned one before.
1) what are some things i should look for before buying in the store? i.e..,parts that could be bad/worn that could lead to real trouble.
2) what do these shoot like, i know its a stack tube but there are slight differences between them all.
3) what kind of efficiency am i looking at? i am primarily looking at this as a back up to my shocker and for woodsball.

any and all help would be appreciated.

$110 is a fair price. And to be honest it shoots pretty similar to a shocker. Im a long time shocker lover myself and my wife bought me a nerve for $120 for xmas and after tuning it and putting a few pods through it I was realy impressed with how it shot because it was so similar to my shockers. And since your a shocker guy the nerve shares a # of identical parts with the shocker so you wont have to buy a ton of different spares to keep it up and running in the unlikely case it goes down.

I would check and make sure the eye wire is still intact. If you remove the ram assembly without taking the eye strip out you destroy the eye. Nerve eyes are very hard to come by.

I loved mine when I had it. The only downside is the small finger space.

I got around 1400 off a 68/4500 iirc.

No lie, 2,000+ on a 68/4500... And I love the stacked tube performance better than the shocker.

thanks for the input. i picked it up for even less than originally thought. no leaks and the eyes are good. in case the eyes ever do go out, are there any aftermarket companies that make eyes i.e..., virtue?

Nastyimp, what settings/parts are you using to reach that efficiency? I am curious if the NDZ aftermarket parts are worth the upgrade? also, jim, you mentioned the nerve and shocker share some parts? are the boards and triggers included? not a big fan of the stock nerve board. thanks again

settings vary between guns so you are just gonna have to play.
I am very fond of my virtue board in the nerve.

Also, with regards to the Shocker NXT (NOT the SFT), the barrel threads are the same.

grab a predator board for the nerve. The eye sensitivity makes it one of the best boards you can get.

Cp reg. Ndz backplates... And that's about it... I looked up my efficiency settings under a thread labeled "nerve efficiency setting's", and took Sean@smartpartswest's advice on the setting...

When I had my nerve, I had everything upgraded that could be (other than the frame, and regulator.)

I used the NDZ bolt, vented backplate, and new manifold. It was a noticeable difference in efficiency, so I'd try to pick those up if you are looking for more efficiency.

This will be a two year revival of a thread, but since that time I have picked up my second Nerve. Absolutely one of my all time favorite shooting markers.

mine too, my nerve is used and abused, but I have spent hours upon hours tuning and fine tuning, make it's such a fun gun to shoot. If I had a legal board in it I'd use it in tournaments over anything else in my arsenal.
